Paris FC-Bordeaux (1-3): outclassed, the PFC is still looking for itself

2022-09-03T15:16:41.371Z

Thierry Laurey's men took on water at home against the overexcited Girondins de Bordeaux. Here are now the thirteenth Parisians,

An afternoon to forget.

The PFC intended to take off in the standings this Saturday at home.

Beat the Bordeaux attraction, 2nd in the standings and move into the first half of the table, these two objectives had enough to galvanize the Parisians.

Instead, they completely missed their start and never recovered (1-3).

The PFC now points to a worrying 13th place, seven points from Bordeaux, who shone in front of an audience committed to their cause.

What you must remember

This Thursday, Thierry Laurey had regretted harmful concentration swings, especially on set pieces.

But this time, the evil was deeper.

The PFC never seemed able to respond to the intensity imposed by the Bordelais in the first half hour.

Florent Hanin, in particular, lived through hell on his left side against the Bordeaux arrows.

The Bakwa-Maja pair made their passion and percussion speak and no one really knew how to respond.

In the 14th minute, the first perfectly launched the second in depth full axis, the Nigerian international taking care of concluding the offering.

Six minutes later, the same increased the mark on penalty after a handball from Bernauer (20th).

A somewhat severe decision but which perfectly illustrated the imbalance of the start.

The switch to four defenders before the break was successful for the PFC.

More comfortable in the midfield when recovering the ball then in construction, the Parisians have closed the gaps but without being very dangerous in the opposing thirty meters.

The opposition looked more interesting in the second period but a second penalty in the 50th minute ended the game.

This third goal made it impossible to measure the potential impact of the three changes (Bernauer by Lefort, Caddy by Guilavogui, and Le Cardinal by Gory).

The latter, who missed the score reduction in the 48th minute, hit the post in the 67th minute.

Ten minutes later, it was another substitute Morgan Guilavogui who lightened the bill on a pass from Julien Lopez, who had also just entered the lawn.

Also note the first appearance of rookie Ilan Kebbal.

The former Rémois was able to show snippets of what he could bring in terms of liveliness and technique in the offensive animation.

It will take at least that to revive this team.

Unlike previous meetings against big players (Sochaux, Guingamp, Caen),

An unexpected leader

Who would have bet on the Girondins de Bordeaux at the top of Ligue 2 after seven days?

On the edge of the abyss this summer, demoted to National 1 before being reinstated at the end of July after multiple appeals, the club at the Scapular put on a show in front of its very many supporters (we will come back to this).

The Girondins are the only leaders with fourteen points and will try to build on this prestigious victory.

Until now, there could be some doubts about their ability to stand up to a candidate for the climb.

They notably lost at home to Guingamp (0-1) last week.

David Guion expected a lot from the first of the three games to come against "mountains" as he called them (PFC, Saint-Étienne, Dijon).

The performance of his ultra-young group (only three players over 25 at the start) must have reassured him before the trip to AS Saint-Étienne next Saturday

Player: Joshua Maja

Seven games, four goals, three assists.

Joshua Maja lights up at the start of the year.

The 23-year-old Nigerian international knew he was eagerly awaited at the forefront of the attack.

His ability to be effective will be crucial to quickly review Ligue 1. He is keeping all his promises for the moment.

He did not have a lot of chances but was able to convert the first (14th) then shelter his partners on penalty (20th, 52nd).

His complementarity with Bakwa and Elis could hurt a lot throughout the year.

The fact of the game

The Stade Charléty usually resonates hollow.

This Saturday afternoon, three minutes were enough for the clamor to take possession of the enclosure of the XIIIth arrondissement where 10,112 spectators had taken place.

Problem, it was the people of Bordeaux who had the keys to the atmosphere and they were in no mood to share.

The 500 Ultras supporters allowed to sit in the visitor parking lot set the tone.

And opposite, they were much more, scattered in the stadium, to answer them.

3' First Bordeaux corner to the cheers of the parking lot (and not only).

He gives nothing.

This contrast was predictable, it was reinforced by the scenario of the match.

Raï's remarks, officially presented to the PFC public at half-time of the match, took on a very special meaning.

“I also believe in you dear supporters who must be the soul of the PFC.

We will see each other often and I hope that we will have many opportunities to celebrate moments of joy and happiness.

Great clubs are built on great audiences,” said the new ambassador and shareholder.

After this speech read in front of the kop, the former glory of PSG distributed a few balloons and even threw his jersey, ending his shirtless parade.

The only smile to remember from this weekend.
