Top 14: Clermont "was too inconstant" against Stade Français, regrets Belleau

After ASM's defeat against Stade Français (24-18), third-line Arthur Iturria and fly-half Anthony Belleau did not hide their frustration.

Anthony Belleau

(opening half who was playing his first official match with Clermont): “We

fell into a false rhythm during this match.

We didn't really know whether to play or put pressure on the Parisians.

We were under a lot of pressure as it was the first game of the season.

We didn't know how to get into this game.

We were a bit inconstant, not very well connected.

Subsequently we rectified the situation, we managed to catch up with our score

(by 12 points to come back to 18-18, Editor's note)

and we showed a good character.

We insisted a lot on that.

It's the start of the Top 14, we now shoot with real ammunition: when we fall behind, it's always difficult to recover points.

The contribution of the bench

(in the second half)

did us good, we put a lot of energy to come back to equality, but we failed very close.

We must know how to concretize our actions.

Arthur Iturria

(third line and captain of Clermont):

“We weren't killers enough in this match.

We have to be more efficient, especially in a sector like the touch.

We can do much better.

We moved on the ground as we know how to do and as we are asked.

It's good to have touches, scrums... But we will have to be more efficient.

I regret that we were a little apathetic in the first half, we did not manage to worry them, we did not win our collisions.

But we must remain very humble in this championship: we must be tougher in our game and not let go in the future.
