The German national basketball team also won the third group game at the European Championships.
In Cologne the team won after double overtime 109:107 (46:41, 89:89, 96:96) against Lithuania, the best scorer was Franz Wagner with 32 points.
On the Lithuanian side, Jonas Valančiūnas was also the most successful with 34 points.
After four closely fought quarters, Germany captain Dennis Schröder had the opportunity to decide the game with seven seconds remaining and a tie.
However, his throw from the middle distance missed the target, which led to overtime.
In the extra five minutes, Germany quickly fell behind but fought back with important baskets from Schröder.
Maodo Lô becomes the match winner
With the score at 96:96, there were still 6.2 seconds to play in extra time and Germany had the ball. This time Wagner got the ball. The 21-year-old made enough space with a good movement, but he didn't hit his shot .
There was another five minutes of overtime.
Maodo Lô, Alba Berlin's star guard, became the decisive man: two threes in a row gave Germany a five-point lead.
It was tight, but it was enough to win.
In the end, the Germans were lucky that Arnas Butkevičius missed a free three point that would have given Lithuania victory.
