While SC Riessersee was only playing its second friendly, it was the sixth for the Starbulls Rosenheim.
That became clear on the ice, Rosenheim was the more experienced team and won 3:2.
Rosenheim – What it means when a team is already well-trained became clear on Sunday in the friendly between the Starbulls Rosenheim and SC Riessersee.
While the game was test number six for the hosts from Mangfall, the SCR only played for the second time in its new formation.
The result: a deserved 2:3 defeat for the white-blue.
Why earned?
Because the Starbulls were the better team on the ice for 40 minutes.
"You just noticed from the start that Rosenheim is a bit further, that they harmonize very well," reports SCR assistant trainer Anton Raubal.
While the SCR was still looking for its rhythm, the hosts combined cheerfully and put the white-blues under pressure.
It was mainly thanks to goalkeeper Daniel Allavena that the score was still 0-0 after the first period.
Two oversights and the SCR is already 0:2 behind
That changed in the second half of the game because the guests allowed themselves two carelessnesses.
Marc Schmidpeter used number one, Michael Knaub, who wore the Riessersee jersey last season, used number two.
In this phase, Raubal not only noticed that Rosenheim had already played a few more games, but also that his men had been toiling away for seven days in a row.
“We were just a step behind mentally and physically.” SCR also conceded goal number three shortly after the start of the final period.
And yet Raubal then praised his players: "We worked hard, played good ice hockey at times and didn't give up." The SCR reduced the deficit to 2:3 at the end with the two additions Lukas Koziol and Ryker Killins.
