It's a rarity that Thomas Müller doesn't say a lot.
However, the Bayern star had no answer to a reporter's question about the Union game.
Munich – Even Thomas Müller was speechless.
The striker had just played 1-1 with FC Bayern Munich at Union Berlin - and thus lost the lead in the Bundesliga.
And then came this one strange question.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann only put Müller on the bench.
For almost an hour, Müller had to watch from the outside as his colleagues ran almost desperately against the Union defense.
After 62 minutes, Müller was allowed to play.
But even the Bavarian veteran couldn't avert the second draw in a row.
The fact that Müller was able to laugh again after the game was also due to an unusual reporter question.
Curious reporter question leaves Thomas Müller speechless
Jens Westen, Sky reporter, asked Müller if he would have liked to sit on the bench for 62 minutes.
Please what?
Even a Thomas Müller, otherwise very quick-witted, had to think about it for a moment.
"I liked the question," he replied, laughing.
When West asked if Müller also had an answer to the question, he was initially speechless: "Not really."
But Thomas Müller would not be Thomas Müller if a few more sentences followed.
"You always like to play, but we have already emphasized that in the previous weeks: we are currently at such a high level of performance in the entire squad, we are spoiled for choice up front.
We'll continue next week," he explained.
"I've had better answers": Müller jokes after Bayern's blunder
Müller then ended the interview with the words: "I've had better answers, I have to admit." This may also have been due to Bayern's meager result against Union.
Just a few days ago, Müller had warned against premature euphoria about FC Bayern.
"We also know that the finals and everything that goes with them will only be played in six months, nine months," he emphasized on the sidelines of the Paulaner Lederhosen shooting.
After all: Müller has overtaken Oliver Kahn in the ranking of Bayern record players.
Substituting against Berlin, the German international came to his 633rd Bayern game.
In the current Bayern squad, nobody comes close to this number.
With Sepp Maier (702 games), only one player has more appearances for Bayern than Müller.
Then you can be speechless.
