What state of form for the two teams?

Apart from the Monegasque hitch (1-1), and again ASM suffered after the break, PSG is unfolding at the start of the season.

Five victories in six matches in all competitions, a first place in the Ligue 1 standings and one more Champions Trophy in the bag.

Coach Galtier's seduction operation is going very well so far, before moving on to the European developer.

The Parisians, carried by a "MNM" which panics the counters at the start of the season, did not have to force their talent to win against a Nantes team reduced to 10 from the 25th minute of play on Saturday , at Beaujoire (0-3).

"

It was a practice match for them.

“, quipped Antoine Kombouaré, the coach of the Canaries.

On the Juventus side, it's (much) slower in the game, that's clear.

Max Allegri's players have won only two of their five Serie A matches, drawing three, including Saturday's away to Fiorentina (1-1).

Good for a fifth place in the Italian championship standings.

Fourth at the end of the past season, Juve is only two points behind the leaders, Naples and AC Milan.

Nothing insurmountable, then.

But the Old Lady is aptly named, with a game as restrictive as possible, old-fashioned.

Enough against Paris?

PSG with Vitinha?

Paris Saint-Germain are not too bothered by injuries at the start of the season.

Kylian Mbappé, Presnel Kimpembe or Pablo Sarabia missed a game here or there through injury.

There have also been suspensions, notably that of Vitinha against Monaco.

The opportunity to measure the importance already taken by the young (22 years old) Portuguese environment in the Parisian system.

However, the former Porto is uncertain for Juve, he who took "

a big hit on the kneecap

" Saturday in Nantes.

However, the trend was towards optimism after initial "

reassuring examinations

" sunday.

Christophe Galtier put an end to the suspense Monday at a press conference, ensuring that the person concerned is fit to start.

“He started training apart with a very specific warm-up in relation to the shock he suffered on Saturday.

Afterwards, he did the entire session,” he explained.

The Italians, for their part, will have to do without their star recruit of the summer, the Ile-de-France Paul Pogba.

His name will however be on everyone's lips with these rumors of … maraboutage of Kylian Mbappé …

What precedents between the two clubs?

Juventus, (very) bad memories for PSG.

But distant memories.

In eight matches, Paris has never beaten the Turin club.

Two draws in the 1983-84 Coupe des Coupes to start (2-2 at the Parc des Princes, 0-0 in Italy) and… six consecutive defeats, including a historic 1-6 rout at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of the Super Cup. Europe, early 97. A thrashing that had made the "Guignols de l'Info" laugh at the time (see below)... On the way back, Zinédine Zidane, Didier Deschamps and company had driven the point home (3 -1).

It was February 5, 1997 and it is the last match to date between the two teams.

In total, Juve have scored 17 goals against PSG, compared to six.

Above all, the Piedmontese club has always eliminated Paris, in the Coupe des Coupes (1983-84) and in the UEFA Cup (1989-90,

Will the curse of the elders still hit PSG?

Former Parisians often take pleasure in scoring against their former team.

As a symbol, it is the titi Kingsley Coman who crucified the club of the capital in the final of the Champions League, in 2020, under the colors of Bayern… Beware of Julian Draxler and the former resident of the training center Parisian Dylan Batubinsika, respectively loaned to Benfica and Maccabi Haifa!

But it is above all on the Juventus side that we find the highest concentration of ex-PSG players, starting with Adrien Rabiot, who moved from Paris to Turin in 2019. We thought he was leaving this summer for a long time ( Monaco, Manchester United…), but the international tricolor finally stayed at the quay.

He was joined by two Argentinians coming directly from Paris, two close to Leo Messi by the way,

Angel Di Maria (forfeited this Tuesday) and Leo Paredes.

The first rose to the rank of a significant figure in the history of the club in seven years on the banks of the Seine (2015-22), becoming PSG's best passer, while the second, failing to represent a real flop , has never justified the €40m disbursed in January 2019. Last but not least, Moise Kean returned to Turin in 2021 just after his (good) season on loan from Paris.

Admittedly, the main danger remains Dusan Vlahovic, but “Gigio” Donnarumma and company will have to be wary of Rabiot, Paredes or Kean…

What program for PSG in this group stage?

PSG begins its campaign in this group H of the C1 with a shock against Juve before going, on September 14, on the ground of Maccabi Haifa.

A club that will not only bring back good memories to the less young of the capital's club followers... After the international break in September, Christophe Galtier's players will challenge the Portuguese from Benfica twice in a row, on October 5 in Lisbon, in the stadium that saw them climb to the final of "Champions" in 2020, and a week later, on the 11th, at the Parc.

They will end with the reception of Maccabi Haifa (October 25) and a trip to Turin (November 2) which may be worth a lot for the first place in the group.

Remember that PSG remains on 10 consecutive qualifications for the final phase of C1.

The draw for the 8th will be on November 7.
