Just bring the derby: leave Jerusalem yellow Israel today

2022-09-05T07:23:28.416Z

First and foremost, it was an evening of substitutions - an exact substitution of players on the field, a substitution of places and above all a substitution of energies • On Beitar Jerusalem's first victory • A fan's column

We returned to the scene of the crime - to the field in Petah Tikva, where less than a week ago we conceded five points, and that wasn't even the worst part of the game.

Thanks to my friend Amichai, an Arsenal fan in the English league, we arrived early and settled in the bar of the field to catch half of his British team against United.

The Baytar crowd, close to 5,000 in number - a very worthy amount for an away game against Ness Ziona, especially after two difficult defeats, began to fill the bar and the nearby streets and half an hour before the whistle was completely 'featured' - one of the words only football fans still use In it, and rightly so.

In the first half, it was evident that the crowd had come to give their throats, but the farce of the referees' union that failed to activate the VAR position, and the decision of a particularly delusional referee not to give a red card to the player Nes Ziona after a very clear blow to the face of Oral Dagani, were the most significant events on the field, alongside Good entry of the new goalkeeper Itamar Israeli and the return of the Venezuelan stopper, Josua Machias.

During the half, several substitutions took place, we will get to them later, but perhaps the most significant substitution took place precisely in area 13A in the moshavah, row 18 seats 82-83.

Suddenly they emerged.

like from a dream

or from a postcard.

or from a distant land.

Two guys in their twenties, with printed tickets in their hands and an almost unimaginable statement in our districts: "This is our seats, here it is written on the ticket" they said to the guys sitting next to us and actually forced us to move to the left in the row of chairs.

I was amazed by the spectacle.

But the guys were determined and moved two of the guys sitting to our right.

"Brother, you are doing something here that you don't do" I said while I, Amichai and Nadibi who were next to me moved to the left and huddled together so as not to separate the guys who had already been together for the whole half.

"What's the problem?" replied the guy with the printed tickets in his hand "These are our seats, we stood the whole half time, we want to sit, what's the problem?"

"First of all, you're right, brother, everything is good, but the problem," I told him, "is that you don't move a chair during a game, and certainly not at halftime.

It's like videotaping a penalty kick, it's bad luck.

Bad karma, don't do it.

You know - it's up to you.'

But they settled anyway.

Other significant substitutions in the half were those of Yossi Abuxis which led to a completely different story in the second half.

The precise substitutions of the coach, who won last night for the first time a massive cheer from the crowd at the end of the game (full disclosure: it's still too difficult for me personally) made the change.

Avishai Cohen, the right defender who made a comeback, and the excellent and talented young Bar Cohen, who joined Zargari's forced substitution (which was very good) during the first half, had a great impact on the game and were a significant part of the overwhelming victory.

We ended this evening in a way that I don't remember for a long time - happy.

We really enjoyed Bitar.

We lost our voice, but this time with joy, especially from the couple of wonderful goals of our Colombian love - Danilo 'Faustino' Asperia in an evening that even Dagni conquers, and another with his left foot.

Personally, I leave with two wonderful and important moments from the Moshava Stadium last night:

1.

Avishai Cohen, the substitute, who returned to Beitar, created a rare football move in our districts when, in only 15 seconds, he saved a safe goal on one side, and scored a goal with a tremendous half-court pass to Asperia on the other side.

2.

At the end of the game, Netanel Delvia, Beitar's goalkeeper who conceded 9 goals in the first two games of the season and particularly sharp criticism, came to the crowd and pushed Itamar Israeli into his arms, the goalkeeper who 'took' Delvia's place in the team and asked them to cheer him on with all their might.

And this is what my late grandmother used to say: "He who runs away from honor, honor pursues him" - well done Delvia.

Thank you for a particularly exciting Beitari moment.

At the end of the game, after the songs and cheers, I approached the two guys who made us move in half of our seats and asked to apologize for the early judgment.

Hey guys, you played it.

You moved us from our seats and brought with you the karma and the change of victory.

Next week - the real thing: a Jerusalem derby.

It is very important to keep Jerusalem yellow.

I hope and am convinced that the Beitari crowd will come in droves to support the team.

Go Beitar!

were we wrong

We will fix it!
