A month and a week after injuring his groin during a Valladolid training session, Shawn Weissman returned to action this evening (Monday) and did it in a big way.

The striker came on in the 66th minute, added freshness to his team and in the third minute of extra time scored a dramatic 0:1 over Almeria and gave the Purples their first win of the season.

The 26-year-old striker was the rising star of Valladolid with 20 goals in the second division, after the relegation season he scored six goals in La Liga, including a brace against Osasuna.

Weissman has not actually participated in an official game since the Israel national team's games in the League of Nations at the beginning of June.

His return to the courts also greatly encourages the team that is preparing for the decisive home game against Albania on September 24.

In the 66th minute, Weissman replaced Sergi Guardiola, who was on the post in the first half, and his entrance woke up the host, but Kika was stopped by Fernando Martinez and the pressure was not reflected on the scoreboard, until the 93rd minute.

Kika put a ball into the box, a defender slightly deflected his head and who if not Weissman sent a long right leg, ahead of Martinez and kicked in.

Second goal in total for Valladolid this season, but what an important goal.
