The HSG Würm-Mitte started the new season in the 3rd league south extremely successfully.

The Würmtaler Wildkatzen beat TSV Haunstetten thanks to good tactics.

Würmtal – The start of the season for the third division handball players at HSG Würm-Mitte could not have gone better.

The Würmtaler Wildkatzen had already wrested a point from TSV Haunstetten in their first third division game four years ago, but they had never won the derby against Augsburg - until Saturday.

Coach Miriam Hirsch's team managed to win 29:22 away, despite being 12:15 down at half-time.

HSG trainer Hirsch was overjoyed with the performance of her team – and that the plan she had hatched worked out perfectly.

“We have adapted very well to them tactically.

It's great how well the girls can now implement the video studies," praised Hirsch.

The HSG trainer had counted on chances against the favorites, as she did not see her team at the top, but better positioned in general, and relied on speed handball.

HSG Würm-Mitte is lagging behind in Haunstetten

The Wildkatzen got into the game properly against last year's third-placed team, who lost an outstanding player in Sarah Irmler in the summer.

Nevertheless, the HSG soon had to run after a deficit.

"If they are in full possession of their powers, they can cause us great problems.

We did better than last season, but we fell into their trap a few times and conceded some stupid goals," analyzed Hirsch.

The 12:15 break deficit was by no means a reason for the HSG to be depressed, but the signal to attack.

Because Hirsch suspected that the hostesses would lose strength as the game went on.

And after the change of sides, everything actually went according to plan.

In the 35th minute, Carolin Hübner scored the goal seven times to make it 16:16.

Less than a minute after the equaliser, Simone Padberg gave the visitors the lead for the first time with a penalty kick.

The HSG defense was very solid and then only conceded six more goals in the second half.

In addition, the HSG players kept the necessary calm in attack.

"Today it's really difficult to highlight one player, everyone did a great job," said Hirsch.

By the middle of the second half, the team had already turned a three-goal deficit into a six-goal lead.

"We then played it very solidly and confidently to the end," praised Hirsch.

After the perfect start to the season, the HSG now has a weekend without games before the second third division game at TV Nellingen is scheduled for the Sunday after next, September 18th.

Despite all the joy about the first success, HSG trainer Hirsch emphasizes: "Two points aren't enough for us.

The important thing now is to build on that.”
