Maccabi Haifa training in Lisbon (Shlomo Weiss)
The Portuguese media is trying to extract as much information as possible about Maccabi Haifa, a relatively anonymous team for Champions League fans, and for this purpose is recruiting names from the past with familiarity with Israeli football.
One of them is Orlando Sa, who played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2016 and was asked to analyze Benfica's opponent Lisbon tonight (Tuesday, 10:00 p.m.) in the opening match of the group stage of the Champions League.
"As far as I'm concerned, Benfica is the clear favorite in this game. There is no doubt that Haifa will be the outsider in this tough house, even though in recent years it is the team that has made the biggest leap in Israel in terms of quality and organization," said the former striker who now serves as a commentator.
Se complimented Gal Alberman, with whom he collaborated in Maccabi Tel Aviv.
"Alberman was one of the team's captains at the time. He has the personality of a leader and has all the knowledge required to build a team at these levels. You can't compare Haifa to Benfica, but there are never easy games in the Champions League."
"A true leader".

Sa also remembers well Barak Becher, who during his time in Israel coached Hapoel Beer Sheva.
"Becher is a coach who plays modern football, he knows how to adapt his team to the opponent's style. He knows how to change formations and react while playing. He led Hapoel Beer Sheva to its golden years, and his name precedes him in Israel. I would even compare his status to that of Z "And this is Mourinho when he coached in Porto. Bacher is the Israeli Mourinho. When it comes to results, he is a level above everyone there. His achievements speak for themselves. I remember him as a coach who prepares his teams well for every game."
Sa claims that "Haifa's main disadvantage is the lack of experience at these levels. On the other hand, Benfica doesn't really know her in depth, so maybe that can work in her favor."
