It is a happy sailor who answered the
Figaro
this Wednesday.
François Gabart has won almost everything on a solo sailing boat (Vendée Globe 2012-2013, Route du rhum 2014, English Transat 2016, solo round the world record 2017…), but he did not succeed in triumphing over the Solitaire du Figaro (16th in 2008, 13th in 2009, 2nd in 2010).
So the victory of Tom Laperche, a sailor he knows well, makes him particularly happy.
Since the launch of the trimaran Ultim
SVR-Lazartigue
in July 2021, the two men are sailing together.
And they even took second place in the last Transat Jacques Vabre double-handed for their first big race.
Suffice to say that the “old” François Gabart (39 years old) is the best placed to decipher the success of the “young” Tom Laperche (25 years old)…
LE FIGARO.
- This victory for Tom Laperche should make you happy...
Francois Gabart.
- Of course, I'm super happy and content.
Tom deserves it, because he's been sailing a Figaro brilliantly this season...
