Under certain conditions, Philipp Lahm would travel to Qatar for the controversial World Cup at the end of the year.
Ravensburg - "I'm not in the DFB delegation, so I don't have the job and I won't go there as a tourist.
But if I have a function, a clear agenda or a task as tournament director of the EM 2024, then I will travel to Qatar," said the 2014 world champion captain in an interview with the "Schwäbische Zeitung".
"If it helps my job, then I'll go there.
If there's a specific reason it helps me as a tournament director, then I will too."
Lahm (38) ruled out a trip to the World Cup a few weeks ago.
He was "not keen on flying there as a fan," he told Kicker: "I'd rather follow the tournament from home." Qatar has been criticized for the controversial human rights situation and working conditions on the World Cup construction sites.
Lahm is tournament director at the 2024 home European Championship.
“The world looks at Germany for four weeks and we have to use this attention.
As a democratic country, we have to clearly show the values we stand for for four weeks," said Lahm.
"That is our task.
When I look at the situation in Europe these days, that's a big possibility." dpa
