Answer the phone unsuspectingly and the person on the other end of the line introduces himself as Patrick Ochs and wants to invite you to a trial session?

This film played out for Philipp Bagus, goalkeeper of SV Steinbach.

The performance that Bagus showed in the game against the U21s from Eintracht Frankfurt impressed those responsible at the SBU.

Already during the game was informed about Bagus' height and his career.

Patrick Ochs, sporting director of the U21s, stayed on the topic, got the 19-year-old's number and finally invited him to a trial session.

“I was very happy for him and he should do that.

That's why everyone plays football and we're happy to make that possible as a club," says coach Petr Paliatka, who gave Bagus his confidence in the Hessenliga as an 18-year-old.

Eintracht Frankfurt U21 takes a close look at Philipp Bagus for two days

Ochs, coach Kristjan Glibo, assistant coach Alex Meier and last but not least goalkeeper coach Stephan Lobue, who played for Greuther Fürth and SC Paderborn in the 2nd Bundesliga, among others, will spend two days scrutinizing the greatest goalkeeper talent from eastern Hesse - and decide whether the move to Frankfurt is an option for Bagus.

Not only the performance from the game against Frankfurt gives reason to believe that the keeper is capable of this leap.

“His great strength is playing with his feet.

He's the best goalkeeper in the Hessenliga.

That's a very high level," estimates Paliatka.

Bagu's Advantage: Foot play

The development that Bagus has made since moving to SV Steinbach in the summer of 2021 is remarkable.

This includes his self-critical way of working on mistakes immediately during training.

"That's what distinguishes Philipp and it's a huge difference between goalkeepers when they look for mistakes in themselves and not in others," says Paliatka.

He knows Bagus from his youth days, when the goalkeeper played with Paliatka's son.

"I knew what to expect when I got him.

The boys have to keep their heads up.

Some see themselves in the Hessenliga directly in the Bundesliga.

Philipp is down-to-earth and approached the matter with a great deal of respect,” emphasizes Paliatka.

The SVS forgave his initial blunders and continued to rely on Bagus, which he repaid with ever-increasing performances.

In the most recent derby against SV Neuhof, Bagus saved Steinbach from far worse than being 3-1 down at the break.

All this prompted the SGE managers to invite Bagus.

And although the Steinbacher Bagus would like to be in their ranks for a long time, they are just as happy about this opportunity.

Before that is the game with Steinbach against Viktoria Griesheim.

After coach Paliatka, among others, had to play 90 minutes against Neuhof and Julian Wehner came on as a substitute, the personnel situation has at least calmed down a bit.

Petr Kvaca and Michael Wiegand have served their bans, and Thore Hütsch and Alexander Reith could also be considered for the squad.

Griesheim recently caught up 0:3 against Waldgirmes and won 4:3.

After the liberation by beating SV Steinbach and the first points at home, SV Neuhof wants to follow up.

On Saturday, the 16th in the table makes a guest appearance at the 17th Erlensee.

"We can go there with a lot of self-confidence," says Mirza Kovac, who scored three goals during the week.
