In the last game of the 6th Bundesliga matchday, SC Freiburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach drew 0-0.

For only the second time in its Bundesliga history, SC Freiburg started a matchday as the front runner.

Favorite opponent Borussia Mönchengladbach was a guest.

The SCF had not lost the last 14 home games against Gladbach and the guests also had to do without regular players such as Alassane Pléa, Nico Elvedi and Ko Itakura.

Gladbach coach Daniel Farke put Julian Weigl in the starting XI for the first time, while regular midfielder Christoph Kramer moved into central defence.

From this position he saw no goals in the first half but an entertaining game.

Ritsu Doan opened the offensive action with a shot just wide of the left post (2nd minute).

However, Borussia had better opportunities on the other side: Freiburg's Dutch national goalkeeper Mark Flekken had to make strong saves against Jonas Hofmann and Marcus Thuram in the 28th and 29th minutes to prevent a deficit.

A lot of effort between the penalty areas

In the second half, too, the game between the penalty areas remained intense with many tricky duel situations.

In the sixteen, however, the excitement remained scarce, the goalkeepers remained almost unemployed - it remained goalless.

Freiburg is second after the draw, Gladbach moves up to eighth place thanks to the point win.

Borussia Mönchengladbach will host RB Leipzig next Saturday (6.30 p.m.), SC Freiburg have to play at Olympiacos Piraeus in the Europa League on Thursday (6.45 p.m.) before they go to TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday (7.30 p.m.).
