Nadine Kapfer tore her cruciate ligament.

The young talent from Garmisch was operated on in Munich.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – The preparations for the winter sports season didn't go quite so well for the DSV.

But that was not due to their own fault, but among other things to climate change and bad luck.

Already in August, the athletes were preparing for the winter on European glaciers full of anticipation, but the conditions were not as good as they used to be.

Two DSV aces showed the dilemma on the glacier.

Then it was off to South America.

Garmisch alpine ski talent tears his cruciate ligament: "That wasn't the plan"

For one, the season is over before it really begins.

Nadine Kapfer tore her cruciate ligament.

"That wasn't my plan for the season.

That's part of it and I'll come back stronger," Kapfer writes on Instagram.

The 22-year-old showed three photos from a Sendlinger hospital in Munich and wrote the hashtag: "ACL recovery".

ACL stands for "Anterior Cruciate Ligament".

She posted the photos on September 3rd.

In the third picture she shows her knee being cooled and healed by a stuffed animal.

Alpine skiing hope Kapfer: The passion began in Unterammergau

Kapfer is not expected to race in the 2022/2023 season after seeing an improvement in performance last winter.

In the European Cup, for example, she came tenth in the Crans Montana downhill.

At FIS level, she won another downhill in Santa Cristina Val Gardena in April 2022.

Unfortunately, she can't continue that now.

According to the DSV yearbook page, the athlete, who was born in February 2000, skied on the Steckenberg in Unterammergau for the first time when she was three years old.

The former Peiting native first drove for SC Peiting before she started for SC Garmisch and also moved to the winter sports stronghold.

Kapfer states that he is a sports soldier as his occupation.
