A great first between two great champions.

This Tuesday, via his team, Briton Anthony Joshua (32) accepted the proposed conditions for a fight with his compatriot Tyson Fury (34) for the title of WBC heavyweight champion.

The announced date is December 3 in an as yet undefined location.

The two men have never fought against each other.

Joshua's team, 258, said they had accepted the offer on behalf of the boxer and his promoter, Matchroom, and were awaiting a response from the current WBC world heavyweight champion.

He himself retweeted 258's message. Fury, whose last fight dates back to April (victory by KO against Dillian Whyte), had however announced his retirement on the occasion of his 34th birthday on August 12, decided to offer Joshua the "opportunity" to challenge him for the WBC title.

Tyson Fury had offered Joshua, 32, last week to let him have 40% of the match earnings if he agreed to face him.

"According to Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua has accepted Tyson Fury's 60/40% offer for a WBC world heavyweight title fight," trade journalist Michael Benson wrote on Twitter over the weekend.

The initial offer was for a date in November (26th), but Joshua wanted to fight on December 17th.

It will ultimately be between the two.

Fury had proposed a 'Battle of Britain' between the two British boxers after Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk said he would not agree to a new fight until early next year.

Usyk has recently beaten Joshua twice: on September 25, 2021 in front of more than 64,000 spectators at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as well as on August 21, thus retaining the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.
