<<< Update live ticker >>>

+++ 8:24 p.m .:

The referee team around the Spaniard José Sanchez is considered to be very experienced overall.

The 38-year-old has overseen 143 LaLiga games and 12 Europa League games.

In the Champions League, however, the Spaniard has only played once - last year he showed six yellow cards in the group stage between Sporting and Ajax Amsterdam.

+++ 8:13 p.m .:

The line-up of the opponent Olympique Marseille is now known.

In a 3-4-3, the attacking line-up with captain Dimitri Payet, Brazilian Gerson and new signing Alexis Sánchez is extremely dangerous.

Former Bundesliga clubs Kolasinac and Balerdi are in the defensive back three, Clauss acts as a right rail player.

Guendouzi and Harit just sit on the bench.

Tudor changes a total of 6 positions.

+++ 19:57:

The secret of Eintracht Frankfurt's line-up has now been revealed.

Coach Oliver Glasner nominally changes the starting lineup twice.

Rafael Santos Borré takes a seat on the bench.

The injured Luca Pellegrini is accordingly not there.

With Makoto Hasebe, the great experience comes into the central defense.

Ndicka will probably move to the left.

The Dane Jesper Lindström is also there.

Kolo Muani could thus move into the top storm.

+++ 19:45:

The other encounter in Group D between Sporting and Tottenham kicked off at 18:45.

At halftime it's 0-0.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, after the clear opening defeat against the Portuguese, it is important to look at their own game and celebrate the first Champions League victory in their history.

Opponents Olympique Marseille have a little more experience.

The club even won the Champions League in 1993 – back then with Rudi Völler and Didier Deschamps in the starting XI in the final against AC Milan (1-0).

+++ 19:04:

Speaking of Argentines: Tudor's predecessor on the bench, Jorge Sampaoli filled the squad of the southern French with some South Americans during his tenure.

Besides Balerdi, the Brazilian Gerson also plays an extremely important role at Marseille.

The South American counterpart to the Champions League, the Copa Libertadores, was won by Gerson in 2019 with Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro.

This summer, however, two other South Americans joined the Cote d'Azur even without Sampaoli.

Lively Colombian striker Luis Suárez and Chilean legend Alexis Sánchez, who has scored four times in his first six games, join OM.

For Eintracht Frankfurt it is precisely these creative posts that need to be eliminated.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Many familiar faces at opponents Marseille

+++ 6:37 p.m .:

Nevertheless, there are many familiar faces to be seen on the French side tonight, who used to play against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Above all, central midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi, who spent a mixed season on loan at Hertha BSC in 2020/21.

In the meantime, the 23-year-old has developed into an absolute midfield motor and an extremely important component at Olympique Marseille.

Especially the maturity gained stands out positively.

Guendouzi was even captain of the French at the weekend.

With Amine Harit, Sead Kolasinac, Jonathan Clauss and the Argentinian Leonardo Balerdi, there are four other former Bundesliga players in the OM squad.

+++ 6:08 p.m

.: Only ex-French national player Dimitri Payet is left from the Olympique Marseille squad, which has been well mixed in the recent past.

However, the hot-headed and highly talented offensive artist is said to have clashed with new coach Igor Tudor during the preparation.

At the weekend, the Croatian left the 35-year-old on the bench for 90 minutes.

After the game, Tudor explained his approach: “I explained my plan to him.

We have a game every three days.

He will play from the start on Tuesday.” So there will probably be a reunion with the only remaining player in the Europa League duels.

Eintracht should be warned because Payet's class is undisputed.

+++ 5:39 p.m .:

The first two and so far only encounters between Eintracht Frankfurt and Olympique Marseille are not that long ago.

In 2018, SGE won both group games in the Europa League against OM – 2-1 and 4-0.

Luka Jovic scored three goals in the duels.

Kevin Trapp and Makoto Hasebe are the only two players left in the current Adler squad in Frankfurt, who played in both matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Draw in the Youth League

+++ 5.10 p.m

.: The UEFA Youth League game between the U19-SGE and the Olympique Marseille Juniors has now ended.

Eintracht was ahead up to the 6th minute of added time thanks to a goal in the 60th minute by Divaio Bobson to make it 2-1.

Then there was a corner in the last minute that was headed in by Marseille goalkeeper Jelle van Neck, who had joined the action.

Final score 2:2.

So the young eagles have to wait for the first win due to the late goal.

In the other Youth League group game, Sporting Club de Portugal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.

Eintracht Frankfurt's U19s are now in third place with two points.

+++ 4.38 p.m .:

For the fans, the away trip to the Cote d’Azur was already associated with some restrictions in advance.

The city of Marseille, for example, banned fellow passengers from wearing jerseys and scarves in the city area.

Now there are said to have been riots between some of the around 8,000 people in Frankfurt and the local police on Monday evening, after which five fans were taken into custody.

+++ 4.15 p.m .:

Eintracht Frankfurt starts in less than five hours with the second group game of the Champions League.

There is already kicking going on in the Youth League.

After a little over an hour, the U19s of both teams are 1-1.

The goal for Frankfurt was scored by Marcel Wenig, who was in the Eintracht squad for the first time at the weekend and was therefore allowed to sit on the bench against Wolfsburg.

Captain Said Mmadi made sure the young French equalized.

First report:

Frankfurt/Marseille – Things aren’t going really well for Eintracht Frankfurt in the young season.

In the league, the SBU is currently in a rather disappointing 11th place with eight points from six games.

The euphoria for the European nights of Frankfurt is still unbroken in the club and in the environment - rightly so!

Eintracht Frankfurt visiting Marseille

Because the games in the Champions League offer everyone involved two huge opportunities.

On the one hand, taking part in the largest European club competition is an absolute highlight for players and fans alike.

At the start against Sporting from Lisbon, eight Frankfurters made their debut in the Champions League.

But even for experienced players like Mario Götze, who has already played 63 games in the premier class and is entering his tenth Champions League season, it's still something very special: "In the end, it's the best competition for me," said Götze recently at eintracht.tv.

On the other hand, a win in the south of France can unleash new strength that is urgently needed in the Bundesliga.

The first victory for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League will be historic.

But is a win against Olympique Marseille realistic?

SGE: Marseille is not an easy opponent in the Champions League

The French have enjoyed the best start to the season in club history under new coach Igor Tudor.

Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner warned against "OM" at the press conference before the game: "Olympique Marseille is in very good shape and is second in the league.

In Tottenham they were at least equal until they were outnumbered.” So the task will be difficult, but certainly not impossible for last season's Europa League champions.

The other group opponents of the SGE already meet at 6.45 p.m.

In Lisbon, Sporting welcomes the Londoners from Tottenham.
