The European Swimming Federation (LEN) has decided to increase next year the number of teams that will participate in the European Water Polo Championships, which will be held in the "Expo" hall in Tel Aviv.

The great success of the last championship in Split, and the progress of the branch which is dominated mainly in the European continent, resulted in a change that will be made for the women.

16 national teams will participate in 12th place.

In doing so, the competition method for the women will also change, where whoever finishes the group stage first will automatically advance to the quarter-finals, while the 2nd and 3rd places will compete in the cross-over stage against a corresponding group, with the winner getting the ticket to the last eight.

In doing so, the European Water Polo Championship in Tel Aviv will become the largest in history, with a total of 32 teams competing for two weeks for the most prestigious title on the continent.

This time the championship will have double importance, with the men's and women's winners also winning a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In the championship that will be held here for the first time, as first published in Israel Hayom, stands with 5,000 seats will be erected, with a temporary pool that will cost approximately four million shekels.

The cost of the entire event will reach NIS 32 million.
