The "Peißenberg Miners" have started the test games.

The team showed a good performance against Riessersee.

In view of an accident, that was rather a minor matter.

Peißenberg – A full house and a strong performance against a top league team: The friendly start of the “Peißenberg Miners” in front of 1000 spectators against SC Riessersee went quite well.

The mood at the Bavarian league is still clouded - and that has to do with an incident in training that happened before the duel with the SCR.

Valentin Hörndl and Sinan Ondörtoglu crashed into each other while riding at full speed on the ice.

Both strikers were injured so badly that they had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter.

"It's very unfortunate and very bitter, because both personally and athletically cannot be replaced," said "Miners" coach Stefan Ihsen before the duel against former German champions Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

"We both wish you all the best and a speedy recovery," said Ihsen, who will be without the two attackers indefinitely.

Bad collision on the ice

The coaches hung the jerseys of the two forwards on the back wall of the players' bench - and that seemed to inspire their teammates.

The Peissenbergers were in the lead against the SCR until seven minutes before the end, but then lost 2:4 in the end.

"It was a great game and a great experience for our boys," said the second "Miners" coach Sepp Staltmayr, who thanked the Werdenfelsers for playing in the market town.

"The result is okay in a very fair game," said Staltmayr.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchner determined the events in front of the big crowd over long stretches.

"Miners" goalie Korbinian Sertl, who had caught a great day, drove the guest strikers to despair for a long time.

The goalkeeper thwarted several good chances for the guests in the first half.

The Riesserseer, who were outnumbered four times, did not score a goal.

The home side created occasional scoring opportunities through Dejan Vogl and newcomer Brett Mecrones.

His brother Derek (21st) gave the "Miners" the lead after a good forechecking action by the hosts at the beginning of the second period.

Peißenberg Miners convince despite defeat

The Peißenbergers then defended this with great passion.

After further great chances for the guests, Tobias Kircher (36th) equalized for the Riessersee outnumbered.

The Peissenbergers were not shocked.

Just 44 seconds later, Derek Mecrones met his brother's pass to make it 2-1.

"Both fit in well right away," praised Staltmayr.

In the final round, the "Miners" were under constant pressure against the Oberliga team.

In the final phase, the Oberliga then also played its class.

Moritz Israel (54th), Ryler Killins (55th) and Kevin Slezak (57th) shot the SCR to victory with their goals.

In the test match against league rivals ESC Kempten, the Peissenbergers got off to a great start.

Derek Mecrones (2nd, 10th) made it 1-0 and 2-0 for the guests.

Lars Grötzinger (17th) then reduced the lead to 2:1 before Max Malzatzki (18th) made it 3:1.

Seconds before the first siren, Kempten's Anton Zimmer scored the goal.

Dominik Ebentheuer (29th) made it 4-2 in the middle section with a long-range shot.

After the home side's third goal by Michael Maassen (31'), Dejan Vogl gave Peißenberg a two-goal lead again in the final round.

In the last few minutes, Kempten took the goalkeeper off the ice for a field player - a measure that should pay off.

Grötzinger managed to tie with a double strike (59th).

In extra time, Niko Fissekis (63rd) scored the Miners' 6:5 winner.

"That was a very good preparatory game, we gained some insights into where there is still room for improvement," Ihsen summed up.

On Friday, September 16th, the Peissenberger test program will continue with the home game against SC Forst.

On Sunday (5.30 p.m.) Oberliga club EV “Islanders” Lindau comes to the market town.
