Artistic gymnast Adi Katz missed a historic medal today (Wednesday) by only four tenths at the World Championships in Sofia in the hoop exercise, after finishing in fourth place.
The 18-year-old Katz first participated in the hoop final, which was her first ever final in this competition, to which she advanced from fifth place in the qualifiers (out of 80 participants), when she presented a stable and clean exercise, with few inaccuracies, for which she received a score of 31.750 points.
This result, as mentioned, gave her the fourth place overall, with Germany's Darja Verpolomev finishing third with 32.150 points, Sofia Raffaelli first with 34.850 points and Bulgaria's Stiliana Nikolova second with 33.4 points.
The ball was also less good for the Israeli, who received 29.6 points and finished in seventh place, while Rafaeli collected her second gold with 34.9 points.
During the finals, the organizers paid tribute to the Olympic champion Linoi Ashram, who is in the competition, as part of Israel's training team.
As a reminder, the one who is absent from the championship is the European champion Daria Atmanov, who was injured during the warm-up just before stepping on the court, when it later became clear that she suffers from a fractured foot and is expected to return to activity within six to eight weeks.
If that's not enough, a big disappointment for the local audience as well, after European runner-up Boriana Klein, who was another candidate for the podium, was taken to the hospital, after suffering from a high fever and she is also out of the most important competition of the year.
Tomorrow, the qualifiers will take place in these devices and the film, when even at the end of the long day, the first eight will advance completely and in addition, by calculating the three best scores, the first 18 will qualify for the final of the battle on Saturday, from which the first three will also win the first tickets to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
