European champion in gymnastics Daria Atmanov did not come up today (Wednesday) to compete in the world championships that opened in Sofia, Bulgaria after she was injured.
The Gymnastics Association stated: "Gymnast Daria Atmanov injured her leg during the warm-up for the World Championships, ahead of her ascension to the first qualifying round. Due to her injury, she will not participate in the upcoming World Championships. Daria is being accompanied by the medical team and is being treated on the spot. We wish Daria a speedy recovery."
The 16-year-old Atmanov was one of the candidates to win one of the medals and compete for the ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, in the first opportunity to do so.
In recent times, Atmanov has collected medals in almost every event she has participated in, including winning the European Championship in Israel in a rab bout, which is considered the most prestigious.
Meanwhile, the qualifying phase opened, when Adi Katz, the only individual representative, won 31.2 points in the hoop.
Tomorrow, on the second day of the championship, there will be preliminaries in the barbell and ribbon exercises starting in the morning, where the first 8 will also fully qualify that day, but after all the preliminaries, the first 18 gymnasts will qualify for the all-around final (based on the calculation of the 3 best results), which will take place on Saturday.
The first three will win the first tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
