A highly intense game ends with the happier end for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The very disciplined team performance secured three points in Marseille.

The French tried everything in the second half to equalize.

But with the mixture of good defensive work, a great performance by Kevin Trupp and a bit of luck, the SGE keeps the zero in the end.

Surely all Frankfurters now hope to take the wind from this historic success into everyday league life.

As expected, this is far from the end.

Six minutes of stoppage time.

87 minutes:

Regular time is almost over.

The firecrackers bang every minute.

It's getting hotter.

The stoppage time will be lavish due to Ndicka's break in treatment and the large number of changes.

Now the last changes from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Alario and Ebimbe replace Kolo Muani and Kamada.

83 minutes:

Shortly before the disallowed goal, Eintracht Frankfurt made two changes.

Borré and Chandler came on for goalscorer Lindstrom and Jakic.

Shortly after the supposed goal, the Adler have their next big chance.

Knauff lays from the baseline to Kamada, who fails against the strong Pau Lopez.

79 minutes:

Goal for Eintracht Frankfurt by Daichi Kamada, but the VAR takes the goal back.

When Kolo Muani was played, the Japanese was offside.

Next 1:0 for the SGE.

75 minutes:

Huge chance for Eintracht.

Kamada draws three opponents and serves Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman dribbles against two defenders on the sixteen and finishes from ten meters.

Lopez can parry.

Kolo Muani's shot is too central.

71 minutes:

Now the first change from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sebastian Rode replaces Mario Gotze.

70 minutes:

Cengiz Ünder with a great attack and great one-two.

Then play the ball flat from the baseline to the penalty spot.

But Suarez doesn't hit the ball properly.

Trapp can pick up the ball.

It's getting tighter and tighter.

66 minutes:

That was close.

Trapp parries a solid shot from Rongier inside the sixteen.

The pace of Marseille has noticeably increased.

The next change for the French.

Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi comes on for central defender Eric Bailly.

No goal, no firecrackers.

But Lindström hits the ball from the sixteen on the crossbar.

Lopez was still there.

But the corner brings nothing.

52 minutes:

Eintracht is now a few meters lower than in the first half.

The spaces should be even tighter for Marseille.

So far almost only OM has the ball in half 2, but cannot get through at all.

50 minutes:

The game was interrupted for around four minutes.

Evan Ndicka and Gerson butted their heads in mid-air.

The Brazilian got up straight away.

Ndicka had to be treated for a long time.

But he's back on the field now and can continue playing.

46 minutes:

The second half continues.

No bills.

45 + 1st minute:

Half time.

Eintracht Frankfurt goes into the break with a 1-0 lead.

It's not entirely undeserved.

Overall, Marseille had the clearer chances.

Nevertheless, the SGE has so far more than kept up and is fully there in every duel.

The tactical discipline of both teams is remarkable.

Both the French and the Frankfurters get behind the ball line extremely quickly when they lose the ball and offer the opponent only a few spaces.

However, there is still a difficult road ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt before their first victory in the Champions League.

OM is by no means to be written off

43 minutes: Goal for Eintracht Frankfurt!

Jesper Lindstrom scores the first goal in Eintracht Frankfurt's Champions League history.

Kolo Muani wants to serve Götze flat in the penalty area.

A Marseille player extends his leg and directs the ball to Lindstrom, who overpowers Lopez from ten yards out.

Who hits Alexis Sanchez in the legs from behind.

Free kick from around 45 meters for OM.

35 minutes:

Both teams want the ball. But neither team can keep possession of the ball longer than a few stops.

32 minutes:

Eintracht is brave and presses relatively high – at least higher than you might have expected.

There were already one or two ball wins through this tactical variant.

Overall, the SGE's financial statements are still too harmless.

29 minutes:

Both teams continue to play with high intensity and many duels.

Nonetheless, the flow of the game is there.

However, Marseille have had the better chances so far

26 minutes:

Now again the harmony with a degree.

Kolo Muani gets through well on the left half, pulls inwards and finishes with a low shot from around 20 meters.

OM keeper Pau Lopez has no problems with this conclusion.

24 minutes:

Again it is dangerous in front of the Frankfurt goal.

Gerson plays a long ball from his own half to Tavares on the left.

He prevails, crosses inwards, where Sánchez cannot put the ball in the goal.

The referees rule offside, which is wrong on the replay.

The goal would have counted after VAR review.

good luck for unity.

22 minutes:

In addition to Tavares, the experienced Sánchez has been extremely noticeable so far.

In addition to his good shot on goal in the 12th minute, the Chilean also drew verbal attention with many announcements to his teammates.

20 minutes :

Eintracht Frankfurt wants to solve many situations in a playful way.

This is worth seeing via Götze.

A resulting Lindstrom edge finds no buyer

16 minutes:

Marseille's route is clear.

A lot goes through the nimble and dribbling Tavares.

As a right rail player, Jakic has to prepare for a busy evening.

OM is in control of the game.

12 minutes:

The first really good chance of the game.

Tavares runs well down the left and finds Alexis Sánchez with a low cross.

He closes powerfully within the sixteen and hits the left side netting.

It was tight for Kevin Trapp for the first time.

9 minutes:

Eintracht starts well and powerfully.

But Marseille is also involved.

The Portuguese Nuno Tavares tries it from around 20 meters from the half-left position - no danger for the SBU.

3. Minute:

The first few minutes of the game indicate how intense this game will be.

There are a lot of rallies early on.

Currently Marseille in the build-up game.

1 minute:

kick-off in Marseille.

Referee Sanchez whistles the game under the banging firecrackers of both fan camps.

+++ 8:58 p.m .:

The Champions League anthem sounds.

The mood is exuberant and fortunately peaceful at the moment.

The fans of Olympique Marseille with a beautiful choreography.

The Eintracht Frankfurt players seem very focused.

Soon it will start.

+++ 8:53 p.m.

Both teams lost their opening match in the Champions League.

Eintracht lost 3-0 at home to Sporting.

Marseille lost to Tottenham by 2-0.

Both Eintracht and Olympique are already under pressure today if you still want to have a say about the top two places.

+++ 8:49 p.m .:

Even though OM won the Champions League in 1993, this year’s season is a long-awaited return to the premier class.

For the first time in nine years, the French are allowed to play again in the top European division.

For the SGE it is about nothing less than the first Champions League victory in the history of the Frankfurt club

+++ 8:45 p.m .:

Today’s opponent of the SGE is still undefeated in the league.

Olympique Marseille have won five straight Ligue 1 games.

A quota from Eintracht Frankfurt can only dream of at the moment.

For the eagles there are only two wins in the still young season.

+++ 8:38 p.m .:

The encounters between the other two group opponents from Eintracht Frankfurt have just ended.

Surprisingly, Sporting beat Tottenham 2-0 with two late substitute goals from Paulinho and Arthur in the first and third minutes of added time.

Coach Rúben Amorim's team is thus taking a good step towards the round of 16.

+++ 8:33 p.m

.: The Stade Vélodrome is filling up more and more.

The mood in the almost 68,000-seat stadium is nervous.

The riots yesterday evening between supporters of Eintracht Frankfurt and the police continued in part between fans of both clubs, as can be seen in some videos on Twitter.

Eintracht Frankfurt in Marseille with two surprises in the starting XI

+++ 8:24 p.m .:

The referee team around the Spaniard José Sanchez is considered to be very experienced overall.

The 38-year-old has overseen 143 LaLiga games and 12 Europa League games.

In the Champions League, however, the Spaniard has only played once - last year he showed six yellow cards in the group stage between Sporting and Ajax Amsterdam.

+++ 8:13 p.m .:

The line-up of the opponent Olympique Marseille is now known.

In a 3-4-3, the attacking line-up with captain Dimitri Payet, Brazilian Gerson and new signing Alexis Sánchez is extremely dangerous.

Former Bundesliga clubs Kolasinac and Balerdi are in the defensive back three, Clauss acts as a right rail player.

Guendouzi and Harit just sit on the bench.

Tudor changes a total of 6 positions.

+++ 19:57:

The secret of Eintracht Frankfurt's line-up has now been revealed.

Coach Oliver Glasner nominally changes the starting lineup twice.

Rafael Santos Borré takes a seat on the bench.

The injured Luca Pellegrini is accordingly not there.

With Makoto Hasebe, the great experience comes into the central defense.

Ndicka will probably move to the left.

The Dane Jesper Lindström is also there.

Kolo Muani could thus move into the top storm.

+++ 19:45:

The other encounter in Group D between Sporting and Tottenham kicked off at 18:45.

At halftime it's 0-0.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, after the clear opening defeat against the Portuguese, it is important to look at their own game and celebrate the first Champions League victory in their history.

Opponents Olympique Marseille have a little more experience.

The club even won the Champions League in 1993 – back then with Rudi Völler and Didier Deschamps in the starting XI in the final against AC Milan (1-0).

+++ 19:04:

Speaking of Argentines: Tudor's predecessor on the bench, Jorge Sampaoli filled the squad of the southern French with some South Americans during his tenure.

Besides Balerdi, the Brazilian Gerson also plays an extremely important role at Marseille.

The South American counterpart to the Champions League, the Copa Libertadores, was won by Gerson in 2019 with Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro.

This summer, however, two other South Americans joined the Cote d'Azur even without Sampaoli.

Lively Colombian striker Luis Suárez and Chilean legend Alexis Sánchez, who has scored four times in his first six games, join OM.

For Eintracht Frankfurt it is precisely these creative posts that need to be eliminated.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Many familiar faces at opponents Marseille

+++ 6:37 p.m .:

Nevertheless, there are many familiar faces to be seen on the French side tonight, who used to play against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Above all, central midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi, who spent a mixed season on loan at Hertha BSC in 2020/21.

In the meantime, the 23-year-old has developed into an absolute midfield motor and an extremely important component at Olympique Marseille.

Especially the maturity gained stands out positively.

Guendouzi was even captain of the French at the weekend.

With Amine Harit, Sead Kolasinac, Jonathan Clauss and the Argentinian Leonardo Balerdi, there are four other former Bundesliga players in the OM squad.

+++ 6:08 p.m

.: Only ex-French national player Dimitri Payet is left from the Olympique Marseille squad, which has been well mixed in the recent past.

However, the hot-headed and highly talented offensive artist is said to have clashed with new coach Igor Tudor during the preparation.

At the weekend, the Croatian left the 35-year-old on the bench for 90 minutes.

After the game, Tudor explained his approach: “I explained my plan to him.

We have a game every three days.

He will play from the start on Tuesday.” So there will probably be a reunion with the only remaining player in the Europa League duels.

Eintracht should be warned because Payet's class is undisputed.

+++ 5:39 p.m .:

The first two and so far only encounters between Eintracht Frankfurt and Olympique Marseille are not that long ago.

In 2018, SGE won both group games in the Europa League against OM – 2-1 and 4-0.

Luka Jovic scored three goals in the duels.

Kevin Trapp and Makoto Hasebe are the only two players left in the current Adler squad in Frankfurt, who played in both matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Draw in the Youth League

+++ 5.10 p.m

.: The UEFA Youth League game between the U19-SGE and the Olympique Marseille Juniors has now ended.

Eintracht was ahead up to the 6th minute of added time thanks to a goal in the 60th minute by Divaio Bobson to make it 2-1.

Then there was a corner in the last minute that was headed in by Marseille goalkeeper Jelle van Neck, who had joined the action.

Final score 2:2.

So the young eagles have to wait for the first win due to the late goal.

In the other Youth League group game, Sporting Club de Portugal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.

Eintracht Frankfurt's U19s are now in third place with two points.

+++ 4.38 p.m .:

For the fans, the away trip to the Cote d’Azur was already associated with some restrictions in advance.

The city of Marseille, for example, banned fellow passengers from wearing jerseys and scarves in the city area.

Now there are said to have been riots between some of the around 8,000 people in Frankfurt and the local police on Monday evening, after which five fans were taken into custody.

+++ 4.15 p.m .:

Eintracht Frankfurt starts in less than five hours with the second group game of the Champions League.

There is already kicking going on in the Youth League.

After a little over an hour, the U19s of both teams are 1-1.

The goal for Frankfurt was scored by Marcel Wenig, who was in the Eintracht squad for the first time at the weekend and was therefore allowed to sit on the bench against Wolfsburg.

Captain Said Mmadi made sure the young French equalized.

First report:

Frankfurt/Marseille – Things aren’t going really well for Eintracht Frankfurt in the young season.

In the league, the SBU is currently in a rather disappointing 11th place with eight points from six games.

The euphoria for the European nights of Frankfurt is still unbroken in the club and in the environment - rightly so!

Eintracht Frankfurt visiting Marseille

Because the games in the Champions League offer everyone involved two huge opportunities.

On the one hand, taking part in the largest European club competition is an absolute highlight for players and fans alike.

At the start against Sporting from Lisbon, eight Frankfurters made their debut in the Champions League.

But even for experienced players like Mario Götze, who has already played 63 games in the premier class and is entering his tenth Champions League season, it's still something very special: "In the end, it's the best competition for me," said Götze recently at eintracht.tv.

On the other hand, a win in the south of France can unleash new strength that is urgently needed in the Bundesliga.

The first victory for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League will be historic.

But is a win against Olympique Marseille realistic?

These are the record transfers at Eintracht Frankfurt

SGE: Marseille is not an easy opponent in the Champions League

The French have enjoyed the best start to the season in club history under new coach Igor Tudor.

Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner warned against "OM" at the press conference before the game: "Olympique Marseille is in very good shape and is second in the league.

In Tottenham they were at least equal until they were outnumbered.” So the task will be difficult, but certainly not impossible for last season's Europa League champions.

The other group opponents of the SGE already meet at 6.45 p.m.

In Lisbon, Sporting welcomes the Londoners from Tottenham.
