Maccabi Haifa's Champions League dream continues tonight (Wednesday) and reaches a certain peak with its biggest game in the group stage: at home, in front of 30,000 excited greens, against one of the brightest teams in the world, Paris Saint-Germain.
After the 2:0 loss to Benfica at the start of the third Champions League campaign in its history last week, the Israeli champion hopes to create a sensation and celebrate the first point, in what appears to be an almost impossible task.
The opponent came with all its stars and started with the most threatening front on the continent - Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Those left out of Christophe Galtier's squad are the injured Presnel Kimpamba, Keylor Navas and Renato Sanchez, while Ashraf Hakimi was dropped to the bench.
On the other hand, the big news for Barak Bakr came from the direction of Ali Muhammad, who is not 100 percent fit and is waiting on the bench.
Muhammad Abu Fani took his place in the 11th.
Bakr made a change compared to the previous games in Europe, preferring Omar Azili over Dean David, while Shawn Goldberg was preferred in the center of the defense at the expense of Abdulai Sak.
Haifa can perhaps draw encouragement from Paris Saint-Germain's dismal record against Israeli opponents: a single win, three losses and one draw in five meetings.
