Sammer criticizes Brazzo: "Wouldn't have made that statement"

Hasan Salihamidžić surprised with his mood-over-points statement and is now reaping criticism from BVB consultant Matthias Sammer.

Munich – FC Bayern's Champions League game against FC Barcelona hadn't even started yet and Hasan Salihamidžić was already being criticized for the first time.

the statement recently made by the Bayern sports director during the preliminary reporting – he would prefer a point loss to dissatisfied players – made a statement.

But Sammer also looks at the other side of the coin, expressing some sympathy for Brazzo's statement and holding the players accountable.

Salihamidžić and the policy of dissatisfied players

After the draw – the third in a row in the Bundesliga – against VfB Stuttgart, Salihamidžić was asked about the rotation in the Bayern starting XI, which prompted him to make a statement that is not Bayern-like at all.

"I'd rather play another draw than have a bad atmosphere and a lot of unhappy players," said Brazzo.

A statement that at first glance does not fit the self-image of the record champions, but probably had to serve as an explanation for Bayern's frustration after the draw against the Swabians.

So it was no surprise that an expert took on this topic before the Champions League duel against FC Barcelona in the Allianz Arena.

The most suitable person to give his assessment then seemed to be the always opinionated and former FC Bayern sports director Matthias Sammer.

Currently working as a consultant at Borussia Dortmund, Sammer knows the business with all its facets and asks the question, "Is it about the content or about taking things out politically?" Even understand the calming of the situation around Säbener Straße, which Sammer quickly criticized.

Sammer: "The coach decides who will be set up"

Since Sammer is generally a rather critical zeitgeist when it comes to football, he was less concerned with what he saw as the positive aspects of the Brazzo statement.

It is clear that the FCB sports director did not want to express his goodwill about the draw, but rather wanted to keep the positive mood in the team in mind.

What remains in Sammers' eyes, however, is a clumsy sentence from Hasan Salihamidžić's mouth and "did not make this statement".

But the players also have to put up with criticism from the expert, who first emphasized the coach's decision-making authority: "There is rotation and there is always the momentum in which the coach decides who will be set up." And that's exactly where he sees the responsibility of the Players who are themselves responsible for operating times and therefore their own good mood.

If you're allowed to play, "you have to march and try to win every game in a club like Bayern Munich," Sammer holds the players on the field accountable.

Sammer is not the only one looking critically at Munich these days, most recently Karl-Heinz Rummenigge dealt against Julian Nagelsmann.
