"Ha'Poel Beer Sheva of the first two historic championships in 1975 and 1976 under Emzia Levkovic, would not have lost to the current team of Eliniv Barda. The truth is that the teams are equal, despite the distance of years and the more advanced professional era. We had a tremendous group of players from the city , only two arrived at the club outside the Negev. At least 7 players from the team at that time would start in today's team - the two defenders of the offensive line, Uri Binyamin and Yaakov Cohen, the giant stopper Alon Ben Dor and two midfielders who never stopped running, Moshe Abugazir and Efraim Zvi. Meir Bared was a leader And a player who has not been seen since and Abraham Numa, beloved by the fans, would have wanted to play even if he had received a shot from Afsnai. And, of course, Rafi Eliyahu. It should be said here that the current team with Alona Barkat is an up-and-coming team, an organized team that plays in a wonderful facility that emphasizes the fact that Beer Sheva is a city of football ".

still a fan

Roni Moskovich, married plus three children and three grandchildren, lives in Rehovot, the city where he grew up and played in his early years as a goalkeeper.

Today he is a pensioner of the Ministry of Education, and accompanies children and boys at the Hapoel Marmorak football school and helps in training the goalkeepers.

Despite the distance, he was and remains a fan of the team in which he recorded a successful decade: "I am a Hapoel Be'er Sheva fan, I attend most of the games at home and some away," he says.

Already at this stage of the conversation, Moskovich's grandson Alon Dollinger asks to have his say: "I am 12 years old and I play for the boys of Hapoel Marmorak. I know the history of Grandpa Roni, he comes with me to the games and the fans recognize and congratulate him in every game. I wish I could reach Grandpa's achievements in football".

He was born on 05/28/1946 in Kazakhstan.

"During World War II, my parents moved from Poland to Siberia, Russia, where they met and got married. After the war, on the way back to Poland from Siberia, I was born. In 1950, we moved from a lodge to Israel, to Kibbutz Givat Brenner."

There he was exposed to sports activities - mainly swimming and basketball.

"I loved basketball, but more than anything I loved soccer. I played basketball at Hapoel Givat Brenner with names like Ami Shelf, the three Reis brothers, Amos Yerushalmi, Amir Kamiel and Oded Gindin Menan, but soccer drew me to Hapoel Rehovot in the second league. The brakeman Gadi Yanyak was the symbol before me He moved to Hapoel Ramat Gan, and the goalkeeper I replaced, Moshe Gamliel, also moved to Hapoel Mahane Yehuda. I was neither tall nor fast, the position of goalkeeper suited me because I had a high clearance and I dared to do bold things between the posts."

Later he moved to Hapoel Marmorak.

"There was a kind of union between Hapoel Rehovot and Marmorak," he explains, "There was a very good team with names like Yoram Orenstein, the late Arnon Sternfeld, and of course with the biggest star Tony Sharabi, one of the most talented players I played with - wonderful control of the ball, passing Perfect, understands and reads the game, a player around whom a team is built.

The people who surrounded him made him make wrong choices.

It's sad that the disease overwhelmed him." The

promotion derby between Marmorak and Maccabi Shaariim in Haifa was unforgettable. "Marmorak needed one point to be ahead of Hapoel Holon.

Ten thousand fans came to Kiryat Eliezer, where the game was held.

A double by Sharabi brought a 1:2 victory for Marmorak and promotion to the national team, but a season later we returned to the national team."

Unforgettable days.

In 1972, at the age of 26, he left Hapoel Marmorak following a phone call.

On the line was Tzuri Devash, the chairman of Hapoel Be'er Sheva. "I left Givat Brenner in 1970, the offer from Be'er Sheva was good, I replaced goalkeeper Yair Nosovsky between the posts, who returned to Hapoel Kfar Saba.

Later, the goalkeeper Yaakov Dehan also left.

The city of Be'er Sheva was apparently known at the time as a place where you can do anything, a place where you can do anything.

I saw a lot of love and giving there, it lifted my spirits."

Was there money and a good contract?

"The money was secondary and was used to improve relationships in life, and especially for studies as a sports teacher at the kibbutz seminary." The

one who changed his career was coach Eli Fox. "He supervised everyone the eyes in the club, brought a different and more professional angle to the team, a person and coach who lives and breathes football.

His kicking performance in training was a challenge for the players, they had to perform moves they did not know in games."

Meanwhile, in the kibbutz through the star of brother Avigdor.

"We are three brothers, Avigdor is eight years younger than me. He loved basketball, from a young age he was a fast dribbler, passes against the direction of the ball and his decision was not to go to football. He made a difference in the teams he played in (mainly Hapoel Ramat Gan the Great - A.G. ) and in the Israeli national team, definitely one of our greats."

While with brother Avigdor there remained a perfect camaraderie, in Be'er Sheva it was more challenging on a social level.

The team was known for the ego fights between its players, there were many headlines in the media, but Moskovic does not remember that it interfered professionally.

"There were arguments and fights on a personal level, things that didn't go into the dressing room or onto the field itself. When we got on the field, we knew we wouldn't fight, no matter who the star was, everyone would give everything until the final whistle."

Then Emzia Lebkovitch arrived.

In 1974 the coach landed in Wassermill.

"We scored only 34 goals, but Levkovic's football was offensive," says Moskovic, "only towards the end of the season did we feel that something historic was taking shape here. We played away against Hapoel Haifa, the rival for the title. They pressured us the whole game, I had a really good game Great, we beat them 0:1 with a goal by Ephraim Zvi. An away game against Maccabi Netanya, who was in the fight for the title, ended in a 0:0 draw and they missed a penalty, again in my excellent game."

It ended in a historic championship with celebrations that lasted quite a while.

"Everyone who is connected to politics in the city came to speak to promise and celebrate, 'Championship' was the magic word in every house, in the streets and in the schools. Bedouins from the Negev came to the games and even donated money to the club, it was unimaginable."

One season later, another coffee with the flag took place in Wassermill.

"Shalom Avitan was our leading scorer with 12 goals before Numa with 6. The struggle was dramatic until the last round against Beitar Jerusalem.

We hosted Maccabi Jaffa, Beitar was playing against Maccabi Tel Aviv. There was a dead silence at the time, we didn't know their score, they didn't know ours. We lost to Maccabi Jaffa 0:1, we all laid down on the grass, sure that the championship was gone, the goal difference of Jerusalem was better and they would have won if they had won. But then came the happy news, Maccabi Tel Aviv won 0:2. Despite the drama, the first championship was greater."

In the end the injuries overwhelmed him.

Shraga Topolanski told in an interview here about Shalom Avitan's throwing the ball in Liège.

You were also a witness.

"Players in the team were sitting around the table playing cards, we were in a series of Intertoto games outside. The security man placed the gun on a chair, Avitan played with it, apparently aimed at Yochanan Wallach, who was the reinforcement player, deflected the gun and fired a bullet into the crossbar. A riot of God ensued. We took flour and water And we made a block to plug the hole, a great miracle was there."

Have you had offers from other clubs?

"There were offers from Maccabi Netanya and also from Maccabi Tel Aviv. I chose to continue with Hapoel Beer Sheva."

At the age of 36 he decided to retire.

"I had many injuries, platinums in my left hand, the distance also suddenly seemed great, I felt that I had to leave on a high. My last game was on the field in Kiryat Gat, Hapoel Beer Sheva against Maccabi Haifa. At the end, I returned the soccer shoes and goalkeeper's gloves to the management. They refused to take them, they were I'm sure I'll be back. During my time in Be'er Sheva I had 608 minutes without conceding a goal"

A random phone call brought you back to the gate.

"Their goalkeeper, Avner Masika, who played with me, was injured for a month. I made it clear that I was coming back on the condition that I leave when Masika recovers. When he returned, they made me the coach, we missed promotion at the last minute."

And finally, there was also the story of the grandmothers.

"Two or three years ago, I was invited to a bar mitzvah event in the streets of an Omar resident. At the table next to me sat a number of women, grandmothers, who were afraid and looked at me. They called me to the table, told me that I was the goalkeeper of the championships and had seen me play for Hapoel Be'er Sheva in their youth. Some of them called their grandchildren and excitedly told about the goalkeeper Sitting with Eitan, I even spoke with some of the grandchildren on the phone. It was very emotional."
