Sadio Mané also remains without a goal against FC Barcelona.
What's wrong with the Bayern star?
Now the newcomer has commented on his mini-crisis for the first time.
Munich – The crisis at Sadio Mané continues to mutate.
Bayern Munich's 2-0 win over FC Barcelona was Mané's fourth consecutive game without a goal.
And otherwise the Senegalese striker star remained almost ineffective.
No scoring, no assists, two dribbles, none won.
Added to this was the fact that Sadio Mané's grotesque collision with Thomas Müller shortly before the half-time whistle prevented Munich from having a great chance.
Significant for the former Liverpool star these days!
Mané was finally allowed to play in his favorite position against Barca, left front, instead of as a center forward like last time.
The end is known.
"I know that I can do better": Sadio Mané is self-critical
"I know I can do better," said Sadio Mané self-critically after the final whistle at
Sport1
.
The 30-year-old didn't want to use the fact that coach Julian Nagelsmann put him on the left as an excuse: "I've played on the left my whole life before, so it's not a problem for me."
Of course, as a striker, you think about it when you don't score.
But: “I will soon show what I can do again.
You don't have to worry about me now.” In any case, it was much more important “that we win,” Sadio Mané continued.
The team played "fantastic" against Robert Lewandowski's new club.
He himself feels very comfortable in the Bayern squad.
"There is no problem," assured Mané.
How Kahn thinks about the Mané crisis
Bayern boss Oliver Kahn sees the situation around Africa's footballer of the year calmly.
"We have a lot of new ones.
Also with Sadio in the storm.
When you play together, you realize that you still need one or two games," explained the former world-class keeper after the Champions League cracker.
Similar tones had already been struck by Nagelsmann before the Barca game.
The Bayern coach sees Mané's problem primarily in too much self-criticism.
"He thinks a tad too much," the trainer is certain.
Sadio Mané simply lacks "such a can opener".
Against Barca, the can remained closed.
