End of story: Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, announced today (Thursday) his retirement at the age of 41.
"The last three years have been very challenging for me, with injuries and surgeries," said Federer in a special message he published on social media.
"I've worked very hard to get back in full shape, but I know my body is very limited, and that's been my message for the last few months."
Federer also wrote: "I know when I have to finish, next month's Libor Cup will be my last tournament, I will of course play more tennis, but it won't be a Grand Slam or in the round, it's a difficult decision because I will miss everything the Tour has given me, but there is So much to celebrate."
"I got a great talent to play tennis, and I reached a level I never even imagined, and I played much longer than I imagined. I really want to thank my wife Mirka, who experienced every minute of tennis with me, even though she was eight months pregnant, and the team that has accompanied me for 20 years."
To my tennis family and beyond,
With Love,
