2022-09-15T21:15:31.970Z

Mixed evening for French clubs on European grounds. In the Europa League, while Monaco and Nantes lost at the start of the game

After the near-full box of French clubs on the European scene last week, the opposite happened this week.

Apart from PSG on Wednesday, no French club has won the European Cup.

Rennes and Nice nevertheless held the good end at the end of the evening, but each conceded a draw after having led.

Earlier in the day, Monaco and Nantes had lost sharply.

Nantes sinks in 12 minutes

Azerbaijan will remain a bad memory for Antoine Kombouaré and his people from Nantes.

After a good first half hour of play against Qarabağ, the Canaries gradually disappeared, and began to suffer from Azeri opportunities.

On the hour mark, Alban Lafont was deceived for the first time against Owusu Kwabena, at the end of a great collective action (1-0, 60th).

In the space of 12 minutes, the Nantes will then completely crack and concede two other goals, by Zoubir (2-0, 65th) then Jankovic (3-0, 72nd).

After the truce, it will be the Germans of Fribourg, wide winners of Olympiakos (3-0) and only leaders of the group, who will await the Nantes.

Monaco can not chain

The Monegasques had come out of a half-fig, half-grape start to the season last week by winning in Belgrade, against Red Star (1-0).

This time, the Rock players failed to shine.

Facing the Hungarians of Ferencváros, in a match that was quite poor in terms of opportunity but overall dominated by the Monegasques, they first came close to correctional with a goal quickly conceded, but signaled offside (20th).

Before, finally, giving in at the very end of the game, on a goal full of success from Bálint Vécsei, whose shot blocked by Disasi then Aguilar barely crossed the line (1-0, 79th).

With this victory, the Hungarians fly away at the top of group H.

Rennes may have regrets

The match, considered to be at high risk, was already being played in front of a restricted assembly at Roazhon Park.

And seeing the smoke bombs thrown on the lawn by Fenerbahçe supporters and delaying the kick-off, we quickly understood why.

What followed was just as eventful.

After a first alert on Mandanda's goal, the Rennais gradually took control of the match but were very approximate when approaching the Turkish goal.

On an excellent opening from Majer after returning from the locker room, Terrier finally opened the scoring (1-0, 52nd).

A minute later, the roles are reversed: brilliant call from Major in the back of the defense, pass from Terrier, the Croatian erases the goalkeeper and ends up for the break (2-0, 53rd).

On the hour mark, on a new sumptuous strike from Kahveci, the Turks reduced the gap (2-1, 60th).

Nice did not know how to make the break

The people of Nice did not give themselves time to doubt.

From the first seconds of this match in Belgrade, against Partizan.

From the first seconds, the Aiglons opened the scoring thanks to left-back Joe Bryan, on the lookout for an offensive movement led by Pépé and Boudaoui to conclude (0-1, 2nd).

Despite many opportunities, the Niçois are clumsy and fail to capitalize on this good start to the game.

On the hour mark, they are punished, Diabaté deceiving Schmeichel at close range (1-1, 60th).

In the end, it's a frustrating draw for the people of Nice.
