A day after the loss at Sami Ofer to PSG, the "Green Monkeys" fan organization issued a statement this morning (Thursday) that it is boycotting the match against Hapoel Jerusalem at Teddy Stadium in the upcoming round, following the conduct of the Jerusalem Police.
"In the past year, we had the privilege of meeting for the umpteenth time, one of the most extremist organizations we have met so far, called the Israel Police - Merhav Moriah, the same unrestrained group chasing us game after game at Teddy Stadium, with many threats, drawing weapons, violent arrests and massive provocations from the stadium parking lot to the entrance to it," the organization's announcement reads.
A few hours later, Hapoel Jerusalem issued a statement in which it addressed the problematic situation and called on the champions' fans to come to the capital.
"After we realized that the Maccabi Haifa fans (with the official backing of the club!), were afraid to come to the game in the capital of Israel, for fear of liquidation of accounts with them by the Israel Police, no less, we worked intensively starting in the morning against all possible factors to remove the aforementioned cloud from the game," the Reds' statement read.
It also reads: "For our happiness, Maccabi Haifa and its fans were assured that if the order is maintained, the Israel Police will not enter the Maccabi Haifa stands, and they will be able to bring in any cheering squad they want with prior coordination, except for pyrotechnics. Ticket sales for the visiting team's stands opened this afternoon (via the official website of Maccabi Haifa) and will also continue at the box office on the day of the match. We call on the people of Maccabi Haifa to return to proportions, come to Jerusalem, watch an attractive and intriguing game at the cheapest and friendliest price available in the Premier League, and enjoy 90 minutes of quality football."
