In the sensational case of footballer Kheira Hamraoui from Paris Saint-Germain being physically attacked, her then team-mate Aminata Diallo has been arrested again.
This was confirmed by the Versailles public prosecutor at the request of the AFP news agency.
Attack with an iron bar
The French international Hamraoui was dragged out of the car of her then teammate Diallo on November 4, 2021 and hit with an iron bar.
Two strangers aimed at her legs.
The midfielder suffered injuries to her thighs and shins, had to be hospitalized and also missed the Champions League game against Real Madrid five days later.
However, she is not said to have sustained any serious damage.
Diallo is said to have been threatened but not physically assaulted.
Both players competed for the same spot on the team.
The police initially investigated whether sporting rivalry could have played a role.
The two were also competitors in the French national team.
Diallo was then taken into custody in November last year, but has always denied allegations that he knew about the attack.
In a statement at the time, she said she "hopes the judiciary will complete their investigation quickly."
She was "sure that in the end this will prove her complete innocence".
She condemned the "completely artificial suggestion of a rivalry between her and Kheira Hamraoui, which would explain why she would target her teammate."
At that time, Diallo, who is now without a club, was released without charge.
New momentum came into the case on Wednesday after police arrested three men believed to have been involved in the attack.
Further details about the arrests were not initially known.
