Hertha BSC has missed the second victory in the Bundesliga.

At Mainz 05, the Berliners only played 1-1 (1-0) because Anthony Caci (90+4 minutes) equalized in added time.

Lucas Tousart had previously given the guests the lead (30th).

For Hertha coach Sandro Schwarz it was the first return to his former club.

After the bad start to the 2022/2023 season, it was Hertha's third point win in a row.

With six points, the club is in twelfth place for the time being, but can still be overtaken by a few teams this matchday.

Mainz remained without a win for the second time in a row and has eleven points in sixth place for the time being.

With a high ball in the direction of the Hertha penalty area, Mainz tried to get a goal in added time.

And it worked: A cross came to Karim Onisiwo from the left, but the ball bounced back to the outside.

There Caci ran to the corner of the six-yard box and volleyed the ball with the inside right.

The Frenchman hit the far corner flat, no Berliner came between them (90+4).

Nobody covers Tousart

Previously, the game had little game art to offer.

Both teams played aggressively and with a lot of physical effort.

Long passes were usually the chosen means, there was hardly any danger in the penalty areas.

A shot from 25 meters from Onisiwo (18th), which flew over the Hertha goal, was the first noteworthy goal.

The first ball that came on a goal was in it right away.

After a cross from Chidera Ejuke, Tousart remained unchallenged in the Mainz penalty area and headed the ball to make it 1-0 for the visitors (30').

The scene was preceded by a poor attempt at clarification by Maxim Leitsch.

Hertha almost followed suit when Ejuke fired a dangerous low shot into the right corner.

The ball was deflected slightly, but Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner reacted strongly (41').

In the second round, Hertha withdrew and lurked for counterattacks.
