Swiss tennis player Roger Federer announced his intention to end his professional career after participating in the Laver Championships next week.
Federer said through his account on the "Instagram" website: "During the last three years, I have been subjected to challenges, including injuries and surgeries, and I have worked hard to return to the level of competitions, but I also know my body's capabilities and limitations ... and I must know the right time to end my professional career in tournaments."
Federer added, "The Laver Cup, scheduled for next week in London, will be my last tournament in professional stadiums."
Federer topped the ATP rankings for 310 weeks and won 20 Grand Slam titles, and is third as the most decorated player behind Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
