At the start of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season, 23,200 spectators in Frankfurt witnessed a top game with many chances for both sides.
After just under an hour, the Frankfurt women still had their goalkeeper Stina Johannes to thank for the 0-0.
In the end, Bayern's goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs had to hold on to the draw for the favorites.
It didn't even take three minutes for the Munich team to take the lead.
Lea Schüller, who had been honored as footballer of the year before the game, overcame goalkeeper Johannes after a through ball.
However, the goal was disallowed due to an offside position.
A very tight decision.
As a result, both teams largely neutralized each other at first, and there were no big chances until the break.
The visiting team had a great opportunity to take the lead early on in the second half of the game.
This time it was captain Lina Magull who appeared free in front of Johannes.
The latter just steered the shot from the edge of the penalty area to the corner (48').
After executing the set piece, the Munich team unsuccessfully called for a penalty – Tanja Pawollek had brought down Saki Kumagai.
The hostesses had their first really good chance in the 66th minute of the game.
Laura Feiersinger's shot was blocked at first, but then Geraldine Reuteler shot from almost ten meters.
Grohs saved Munich from falling behind.
Eleven minutes later she saved again strongly against Reuteler.
In the end, Bayern almost got the lucky punch, but Simon saved again in injury time against Magull (90' + 2').
Bayern host Werder Bremen next weekend, Frankfurt plays away to Freiburg.
