A great achievement for gymnast Adi Katz, who finished sixth today (Saturday) in the finals of the World Championships, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, in one of Israel's best results in the competition of all time.
The 18-year-old Katz first went up to perform in the film exercise, which was mostly a great and clean exercise, except for a difficult catch, but it was of a high degree of difficulty, and accordingly the score, when she saw the 29.750 points on the board, was a little more than what she achieved in the qualifiers.
The Israeli's next exercise was in the hoop, where she continued her great ability and won a score of 31.9 points, continued with the ball exercise 31.3 points and finished the championship with the club exercise, where she received a score of 31.5 points.
In the end, Katz achieved a total score of 124.450 points, which ranked her in sixth place overall, when it comes to the second best achievement of all time at the World Championships, after Linoi Ashram's silver medal in 2019, when she compared the position of Nicole Zelikman in the same year and Ira Risenson in 2009.
The gold medal was won by the Italian Sofia Raffaelli with 133.250 points, the second by the German Daria Werpolmiev with 132.450 points and the third by the local Stiliana Nikolova with 126.8 points, with all three also obtaining the first tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
After winning the silver medal in the all-around competition, the gymnastics team will close the championship tomorrow, when they will participate in the finals in the hoop exercise and the exercise combined with the ribbons and balls, when they will want to continue the positive momentum and get on the podium again.
