The Pro-Stars tournament in Anja is not looking good for Hapoel Holon so far: just like in the opening game of the tournament against Zadar, last night (Friday) the purple-yellows lost their advantage entering the fourth quarter and suffered their second loss, 79:67 to the local Shula.
The champion finished the early home in third place with a 2:0 record and will meet Metropolitan 92 today (Saturday, 16:00), Tomer Ginat's team for the past two years, in a match for places 5-6 in the tournament.
Despite a somewhat confused first quarter, the champion took the lead 13:16 and in the next ten minutes Hayden Dalton hit three three-pointers and led an escape to a record lead of 17 points, which by the time the break dwindled only slightly, 31:43.
Holon left many points on the line, the French scored high penalty percentages on the other side and managed to get close, but Kenny Kadji's good ability kept a reasonable distance, 52:60 after 30 minutes.
Just like against Zadar, the chanting on the foul board started to fill up and Shula took advantage of that to turn the score around with 9 quick points and even escape to a double digit gap with a 2:20 run.
From here Holon was no longer able to come back and in the end 79:67 to the locals.
Holon: Kadji 16, Harris 15, Dalton 12, Ragland 7, Bourdion 6, Dawson 5, Jones, Mashgav and Johnson 2 KA.
