The German tennis men move into the final tournament of the Davis Cup as undefeated group winners and meet Canada there.

At the end of the home game at Hamburg's Rothenbaum, team boss Michael Kohlmann's team won 2-1 against Australia on Sunday and thus celebrated their third win in their third encounter.

Germany will play the Canadians in the quarter-finals in Málaga on November 24th.

If they win, the next opponents would be the USA or Italy in the semifinals.

In the previous year, the DTB selection had reached the semi-finals.

It is unclear whether Olympic champion Alexander Zverev, who has an injured foot, can be there in Málaga.

Krawietz/Pütz remain the point guarantors

The decisive point in Hamburg was once again won by the doubles Kevin Krawietz/Tim Pütz with a 6:4, 6:4 against the Wimbledon winners Matthew Ebden/Max Purcell.

The German duo remained undefeated in the eighth game of the Davis Cup.

Jan-Lennard Struff had previously given Germany the lead, as in the wins against France and Belgium.

The 32-year-old won easily 6: 1, 7: 5 against the doubles specialist Purcell.

Afterwards, Oscar Otte also lost his third individual in the days of Hamburg.

The 29-year-old had no chance in the 6: 7 (6: 8), 1: 6 against Thanasi Kokkinakis, especially in the second round.
