Real Madrid keep Barcelona at bay

In the Spanish league, Robert Lewandowski has to wait with FC Barcelona for a slip from Real Madrid. The archrival won the city derby against Atletico.

It was the sixth win in six games: Real Madrid remain at the top of the table in Spain.

The Champions League winner also won the city derby against Atlético Madrid 2-1 (2-0) on Sunday and thus remains without a loss.

Brazil's Rodrygo (18') and Uruguay's Fede Valverde (36') scored for coach Carlo Ancelotti's extremely efficient team.

In the closing stages, however, victory was again in danger after Mario Hermoso (83') scored for the hosts.

The defender then saw yellow-red in the heated final phase, the guests brought the success over time.

Real are now two points ahead of FC Barcelona.

The club of ex-Bayern Robert Lewandowski won 3-0 (2-0) over FC Elche on Saturday.

The exceptional Polish striker contributed two goals (34th/48th minute) against the bottom of the table.

For the world footballer, it was already the seventh and eighth goals of the season in the sixth league game.
