HSG Freising-Neufahrn scored a point against Eichenauer SV in a turbulent opening game of the Landesliga.

Freising

– After all, the handball players of HSG Freising-Neufahrn got a point at home against Eichenauer SV at the start of the state league.

The game ended 21:21 (12:12) - and coach Simon Klawe didn't really know whether he could be satisfied with the result or not.

The reason: Shortly before the final whistle, his players had the great opportunity to increase to two goals when the score was 21:20.

However, they forgave it and conceded compensation instead.

However, the hostesses were already clearly behind in the meantime.

The opening phase of the game went completely wrong.

The 3:2:1 defense with Cara Bittner or Maria Zech in the front position had to be found first, in the game forward the HSG made a few bad passes.

After just a few minutes, the team, which had to do without the sick Anna Sophia Meyerhofer for a short time, was 6-1 behind.

The trainers Simon Klawe and Felix Ilberg then ordered the returnee Melanie Kapser from the middle to her usual position on the outside.

The hosts' game stabilized.

With well-played attacks, the HSG came close and managed to equalize 12:12 by the break.

Especially the youth handball players Alina Schindler and Eduarta Krasnigi did their job very well, said Klawe.

“We had a total of seven U21 players on the field.

In the second half, however, the performance curve initially pointed downwards again.

The guests took the lead back, in between it was 16:20 from the HSG point of view.

In the final phase, however, the defensive work was particularly good – the hosts won many balls and also launched successful attacks from the second wave.

After five goals in a row, Freising-Neufahrn was ahead, but could not take the lead over time.

Coach Klawe's conclusion: "We still have a lot of room for improvement at the back and front, but that's normal for the start of the season and given the absences." One point is immensely important for self-confidence, and the coaching duo certainly saw development steps during the game .

"Our new defensive formation has stabilized more and more." BY BERND HEINZINGER
