Nothing came of it when Maxi Dallinger reached the final at the European Rifle Championships in Breslau.

The 25-year-old wanted to finish in the top eight.

He ended up in 28th place

Lengdorf – At best, even a quota place for the Olympics in Paris would have been possible.

Ultimately, however, he only managed 28th place in the three-position fight.

The 25-year-old returned from Poland on Sunday evening.

"Looked at soberly, I have to say that I fell short of my expectations and my goal of reaching the final," he says.

"The placement in and of itself is of course disappointing, but the distance to the top eight is not as big as the number 28 would suggest." After all, his result (585 points) was only four points missing.

The Lengdorfer was still in action.

In the team competition 50 m three positions, he finished eleventh with David Koenders and Kai Dembeck.

In the mixed prone fight, he finished 15th with Lisa Müller. Dallinger was not satisfied with 35th place in the men's prone fight: "The beginning and the end were okay, the middle was tough," Dallinger said on the official website of the German Shooting Federation (DSB ) quoted.

“I've had very little feedback from the rifle and from the body, and that leaves you a bit perplexed.

But my result is the lower limit and not internationally usable.”

With a little distance, the policeman evaluates that a little more relaxed.

After all, the prone fight is not an Olympic discipline, which is why the small caliber competitions actually only focus on the three-position fight and everything else is training, because Dallinger is already looking ahead: “I was able to use the time at the European Championships and the subsequent competitions , to take a closer look at a few details from the individual competition and I already have plans for training for the next three weeks up to the World Championships.” This will take place in Cairo.

"In the current situation, the implementation of the training approaches is the only thing that concerns me." His plan up to the departure to Egypt is set: "I will do the last ammunition test again in Fürth on Wednesday and drive straight on to Hanover, to hopefully to be able to train with a little wind until Sunday.

This is followed by another short training week in Munich.”

Dallinger hopes “that the weather will still play into my hands so that I can get out on my racing bike again.

That's just good for me.

I usually come up with the best ideas on the bike, plan my strategy and attitude for the competitions – and above all I have my peace of mind.” On October 3rd I'll be off to Bologna again for four days to prepare for the World Championships.

This is followed by three days of rest before the plane leaves for Cairo on October 12th.
