Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, landed in Israel today (Monday) to participate in the state ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Munich massacre as the guest of honor.
During his visit, Bach will stay in Tel Aviv for about two and a half days, during which, in addition to his participation in the state memorial ceremony, he will visit Yad Vashem, be a guest of President Herzog in the President's House, visit the Church of the Sepulcher, the Olympic Experience Museum in Tel Aviv and even meet representatives of the 11 families, The management of the Olympic Committee and Israeli Olympic athletes.
Bach, born in Germany, is the ninth president of the International Olympic Committee, the first Olympic champion to be elected to the position and is considered the greatest friend of Israel in world sports, and he was the one who acted and led to the long-awaited moment of silence, at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
Al Bach is accompanied by his wife Mrs. Claudia Bach, and an impressive delegation from the World Olympic Committee that includes, among others, James McLeod - Director of the Olympic Foundation and External Relations with the National Olympic Committees, Mark Adams - Director of the President's Communications System, and Jerome Poibey - Associate Director of Liaison with the National Olympic Committees.
