Al-Tale’a team won the Republic’s Cup handball championship for the men’s category after defeating the army with a score of 35-32 goals in the final match of the competition, which was held today at Deir Attia Hall in Damascus countryside.
The first half of the match ended with the Army team leading 16-15 goals.
In a statement to SANA, Al-Tale’a coach, Ayman Al-Safan, explained that his team performed well in the final match, especially in the second half, as it was able to put pressure on the army team in his area not to allow him to advance easily, and the factors of physical fitness and experience were in favor of our team, which contributed to our winning the match and the title He pointed out that Al-Talia performed outstandingly in all the cup matches, so he deserved to win the title, which was achieved for the first time in the history of the club's participation in this competition, even though we won the league title in the past two seasons.
At the end of the tournament, Al-Tale’a goalkeeper Youssef Abu Hayoun was chosen as the best goalkeeper, while Al-Nawa’ir player Abdel Rahman Traboulsieh was chosen as the best player.
The two teams qualified for the final match after they topped the two groups of the first round of the competition, where the vanguard came first in the first group, which included Al-Jazira, Ahli Aleppo and Al-Waktah, while Al-Jaish topped the second group after its victory over Al-Nawair, Al-Shu’ala and Al-Nabek.
