Augenthaler: "I hope that Thomas Müller will continue to play at FC Bayern for a long time!"

Bayern legend Klaus Augenthaler sees Thomas Müller as a role model for the club.

And already has plans for him after his playing days.

Munich – After a great start to the Bundesliga season, FC Bayern is currently in crisis.

Four games in a row without a win – that was 20 years ago.

A player like Thomas Müller can't think of anything else.

He felt "stunned and powerless" after the match against FC Augsburg.

At the moment, Müller seems to have run out of luck in general: a few days ago his villa in Otterfing was broken into.

"Thomas Müller is a figure I can identify with"

Legend Klaus Augenthaler now has words of comfort for Thomas Müller.

On the occasion of his 65th birthday on Monday he gave an interview to the German Press Agency and found words of praise for Müller and Manuel Neuer: "I hope that Thomas Müller will play here for a long time to come.

If a role model like him ends his career at some point, hopefully he will remain connected to Bayern Munich.

This also applies to Manuel Neuer.

He is the world's best goalkeeper and a face of FC Bayern."

Will Müller and Neuer be over in the summer of 2024?

Thomas Müller worked his way up in the Munich youth team and has been with FC Bayern since 2000.

National goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been with the club since 2011.

The contracts of the two players end in the summer of 2024. Müller's long affiliation with FC Bayern in particular stands out in the football business: he is currently third in the list of players loyal to the club in Europe.

Augenthaler knows what he is talking about, he is himself a legend of the German soccer record champions.

He was German champion seven times with Munich, won the DFB Cup three times and was in the final of the national championship cup twice.

He was also able to crown his career with the world championship title in 1990 in Italy.

Augenthaler: "FC Bayern is well positioned"

The former libero encourages the Bayern squad and is convinced of Julian Nagelsmann as a coach.

“He fits in well with the team.

Of course it still takes time, the engine still stutters from time to time,” said Augenthaler.

"If you're not at the top of the table with several points after a few match days in the Bundesliga, critical voices come up, but that's normal.

But FC Bayern is well positioned.”
