Farewell to FC Bayern gives Hansi Flick food for thought even after his first year as national coach.

He is also critical of himself.

Frankfurt am Main – Hansi Flick has been a Bayern fan since childhood.

Being a coach at FC Bayern was his dream job.

He celebrated incredible success with the record champions - but after a little over a year and a half it was over.

For a coach who had won the treble, the farewell came too soon.

But it did not fit between Flick and Hasan Salihamidzic, the ongoing feud between the two inevitably led to their separation.

Flick is still struggling with his departure.

Hansi Flick regrets Bayern farewell: National coach "would do one or the other differently"

"I do think that I would do one or the other thing differently now," he thinks

aloud in an interview with the

FAZ .

"Of course, a conversation would have been good, to sit down with one or the other at the table to address things as they are, or as I perceived them, and to let everyone have their say," says Flick.

By that he doesn't just mean Salihamidzic, but also "Uli or Kalle".

It's always good to talk about it again to clear things up.

Looking back on his time as Bayern coach, he gets enthusiastic: "It was a very special time.

I had a great coaching team, outstanding players, a great team, I wasn't exhausted either, it was exactly what I enjoy," said Flick.

Hansi Flick had to say goodbye after the triple: "Why did it come to this?"

A bit of melancholy can definitely be heard - the 57-year-old would have liked to have stayed longer in Munich.

"Sometimes I ask myself: why did it come to this?" he muses.

But he quickly found an alternative job that isn't so bad: Flick has been the national coach for a little over a year and is currently preparing for the World Cup in Qatar.

He also commented on the current crisis at his former club.

"Bayern played outstandingly at the beginning of the season.

After the third day of play, everyone thought other teams didn't stand a chance," he recalled.

“Now they are in a bit of a weak phase.

But they always create chances and that makes me very positive.”

He also thinks Julian Nagelsmann is an "excellent coach", according to the former Bayern coach: "I'm a fan of the way he lets the team play football - regardless of the recent results." Of course, Flick is also interested at the end of the Bayern crisis, after all he can't use a weak Bayern block at the World Cup.

Hansi Flick recently published a book.

In it he tells, among other things, for the first time about a stroke of fate in his family.
