The Carmel Reds opened the season with a festive press conference before the start of the league • Sharon Drucker: "We want to bring Europe here"

Hapoel Haifa held its official press conference today (Tuesday) ahead of the 2022/23 season in the Winner Basket and Eurocup Cup, with the participation of new coach Sharon Drucker, captain Ofek Avital and chairman Yuval Rossman.

"This club has brought a breath of fresh air to the league in the last two years," said Drucker, "there is potential here for a club that can run and be a serious milestone in Israeli basketball. We have a large audience and our goal is to bring it out, we have everything we need to take the steps forward. This is also the goal.

"When we built the team we realized that there was some kind of trend of playing with five foreigners, but throughout my career I thought that going with the Israelis gave an advantage and I'm going with that this time as well."

On the team that was built: "We are trying to put together a team that can work hard, give their heart and soul on the field and hopefully bond and become a team that is fun to watch. I want people to turn on the TV and see Hapoel Haifa as a team that fights and cares. These are things that have always characterized my teams. The club is excited and ready for Europe, we are not going on a trip in the qualifiers, but to accomplish a task. We will try to advance through the qualifiers and bring Europe to Haifa. We are full of challenges and we are excited about them."
