A moving tribute to the memory of the legendary Bill Russell.
Last July, one of the greatest icons in the history of the best league in the world passed away at the age of 88. Russell, who was the great star of the Boston Celtics with whom he won eight NBA championships in a row and actually played for them throughout his career, will receive the honor from his beloved team, which announced tonight (between Monday and Tuesday) a tribute extraordinary.
As you remember, Russell wore the number 6 on his jersey throughout his career, so the Celtics decided to stamp the number 6 on the parquet floor in their new home court in two main locations in the free-throw area.
According to the release, the Greens added the number 6 "as a tribute to Russell's uncompromising and dominant play in the paint."

Earlier it was announced that in the best league in the world it was decided to set aside the jersey number of the Boston Celtics legend.
It should be noted that Russell became the first in history to have his jersey number retired by the NBA, and from now on as a sign of his memory - no player will wear the number 6.
