"Flagship of the City of Munich": Uli Hoeneß is already praising the current major construction site

With the SAP Garden, Munich is getting a modern multi-purpose hall, and expectations are high.

Uli Hoeneß and Herbert Hainer recently visited the construction site and became enthusiastic.

Munich - The Allianz Arena, the Audi Dome, the ice sports center and the legendary Olympic Stadium - in Munich there are a large number of venues for professional clubs of all sports.

In order to increase the attractiveness of the fringe sports, the construction of a multi-purpose hall was commissioned at the beginning of 2020, and this is expected to be completed in spring 2024.

Uli Hoeneß is regarded as the doer of FC Bayern Munich and the initiator for the construction of the Fröttmaninger Arena. He recently spoke about the new hall called SAP Garden and got enthusiastic about it.

On Tuesday, the honorary president of the record German soccer champions paid a visit to the construction site on the west side of the Olympic Park and was not sparing in his praise.

With the completion of the SAP Garden, Hoeneß expects the start of a "new era in Bavarian basketball". The world and European champion is considered a big fan of the sport and is certain: "Then things will really get going at FC Bayern Basketball".

The Bayern basketball players can probably look forward to “an arena for almost 12,000 spectators and with professional training conditions here and in the Audi Dome” from the 2024/25 season.

It will still be about a year and a half before the hall opens.

The ice hockey pros from EHC Red Bull Munich can also look forward to their new home and venue.

Hoeneß is already certain that the SAP Garden will “become a flagship for the city of Munich, like the Allianz Arena”.

FC Bayern's stadium has been in operation since 2005 and is popular with the majority of supporters, even if the distance to the city center means it is a long journey to go to a game.

In view of its location not far from the Westfriedhof and the Borstei, the SAP Garden could probably be more conspicuous and therefore more formative for the cityscape than the football temple in the north.

Hoeneß' predecessor, club president Herbert Hainer, was also present when the building site and the "Experience Center" were inspected and he was looking forward to it.

The hall will "set standards", emphasized the Dingolfing, the basketball department is "already on the right track, but with the SAP Garden our possibilities expand many times over".

The tasks for the basketball offshoot of FC Bayern and the top Munich ice hockey club are clearly defined.

The hall opens up new possibilities, so titles are also expected in the next few years.

The basketball players last won the championship in 2019, while EHC Red Bull's last major title was a year ago.
