Bayern Munich are reportedly holding their winter training camp in Qatar again.
There is also said to be a tendency towards the sponsorship contract with Qatar Airways, which expires in 2023.
Munich – The issue of Qatar is polarizing at FC Bayern like no other.
Since the German record champions decided on their lucrative sponsorship deal with the Qatari state company
Qatar Airways
in 2011 , they have regularly held their training camps in the emirate.
Large parts of the fans are critical of the business relationship between Munich and Qatar, which is accused of serious human rights violations, or reject it entirely.
Now these supporters are apparently suffering a setback.
FC Bayern: Qatar training camp planned for winter - fan debates apparently have no effect
According to reports from
Sport Bild
and the
dpa
, FC Bayern is planning another training camp in the World Cup host country this winter.
The debate about sponsorship only caused a scandal at the general meeting in November 2021, when the executive committee dismissed members who wanted to comment on the controversial partnership.
In July there was then a discussion on Qatar between the FCB bosses and fan representatives.
Board boss Oliver Kahn sees the exchange with the fans regarding the Qatar discussions as positive, even if the "round table" that has been postponed several times has apparently not had any consequences.
The club wanted to show "that you can sit down at a table, even across different opinions and different attitudes, meet, listen and exchange ideas."
FC Bayern: Lucrative sponsorship contract with Qatar Airways expires in 2023
Most recently, Bayern had announced that after the 2022 World Cup (November 20 to December 18) they would decide on how to proceed with the contract with Qatar Airways
, which expires in 2023
.
The training camp in January could be seen as a pro-Qatar trend, according to information from
Sport Bild
there should be a visit by a Munich delegation to Qatar before the decision is made.
It's a lot of money, with the partnership reportedly bringing in Bayern at least €25m a year.

FC Bayern back at the Qatar training camp after two years - next general meeting in October
After the World Cup, Julian Nagelsmann's team is expected to spend at least a week on the peninsula in the Persian Gulf from January 5th.
There, the team should prepare for the start of the year on January 20th at RB Leipzig and the other upcoming tasks with top conditions.
After two years of Corona interruption, FC Bayern will probably set up camp in the capital Doha again.

The training conditions in winter are the most important argument for the club, according to
Sport Bild
the coaching team around Julian Nagelsmann should welcome the club's decision.
Large parts of the fans will probably see things differently, on October 15th the FCB invites its members to the next annual general meeting.
Four weeks before the start of the World Cup, the hot topic will probably be a topic of conversation again if the club management doesn't object again.
