Lionel Messi and Neymar with Paris Saint-Germain in Israel (Comtek Group)
Leo Messi left Barcelona with a door slam and in recent months rumors are growing that he may return to the club, but in the meantime intriguing details from the past are also being revealed.
Last night (Tuesday) in Catalonia, email correspondence from 2020 - at the height of the Corona period - between Jorge Messi, Messi's father and his agent, and the president of Barcelona at the time, Josep Maria Bartomeu, was revealed.
The correspondence detailed the requirements set by Messi in order to sign a new contract, and they include some surprising and unusual requests.
Messi's demand was to have a contract until 2023 with his unilateral option to extend.
He also agreed to reduce his salary by about 20 percent, on the condition that he receive refunds in the next two years.
He also demanded a "loyalty bonus" alongside a large signing bonus of 10 million euros, and wanted to make sure that his salary would increase in the event of a tax increase in Spain.
The road to PSG was full of strange requests.

The sections also included more original requests.
So, for example, he demanded to have private viewing booths at Camp Nou for his family as well as for the family of his good friend Luis Suarez.
He also asked to renew the contract of Pepe Costa, who at the time was one of the professional team and considered a close friend of his.
Finally, he asked for a written commitment from the club that he would pay his brother Rodrigo Messi commissions on deals he made with Barca.
Most of Messi's demands were not met by Barcelona, and the end is known to everyone: in August of that year, Messi transferred the famous "burofax" to the club in which he asked to be released from the contract, and one season later he finally left for Paris Saint-Germain.
