50 years after the massacre of the 11 victims of Munich, the official state ceremony was held at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv, of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which was also attended by the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

The exciting event is also attended by the President of the State Yitzhak Buzi Herzog, the Minister of Sports Hili Troper, the families of the victims of the massacre, the survivors, representatives of the Israeli Olympic Committee and the Chairman Yael Arad and other dignitaries.

This ceremony is the culminating event of a series of events that took place this month, during which monuments, sports halls and squares were inaugurated throughout Israel in the name of the 11 athletes, coaches and judges who were murdered in the Munich Olympics, the most prominent of which are: the square in Ramat Hasharon, the sports hall in Or Yehuda and the commemorative events in the city of Bat Yam and in the Galilee landscape. 

The participation of President Thomas Bach is the first time in 12 years that the President of the IOC has visited Israel.

Bach, born in Germany, the ninth president of the International Olympic Committee, is the first Olympic champion to be elected president of the Olympic Committee and is considered the greatest friend of Israel in world sports. 

Bach was the one who acted and led to the administration of historical justice and brought for the first time in 49 years since the massacre to the long-awaited minute of silence, at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. Along with his participation in the state memorial ceremony, he visited Yad Vashem, was the guest of President Herzog in the President's House, visited the Church of the Sepulcher, at the Olympic Experience Museum in Tel Aviv, and even met with representatives of the 11 families and Israeli Olympic athletes.
