She started as a favorite "and more than lived up to her role as a favourite," praised TSV trainer Markus Brennauer.

Mareike Ressing confidently secured the DM title in the age group W50 over the 1500 meters in Erding.

The 52-year-old runner from TSV Penzberg prevailed with a time of 5:14.53 minutes and referred Monika Fischer (LG Kreis Dachau/5:15.98) and Gabi Müller-Scherzant (TuS Deuz/5:20.43). ) to the other places.

The starting field consisted of nine athletes.

In a tactical race, Fischer initially took the lead and retained it for the first three laps.

Always close behind was Ressing, who trusted in her final sprint.

And the Bad Tölzerin unpacked this in the last 200 meters and distanced her opponent by one and a half seconds.

“In the past few weeks, I had prepared meticulously for the 1,500 meters and am now overjoyed that my plan worked,” said the experienced runner.

Ressing is currently in first place in the DLV best list of W50 runners in two disciplines.

Over 1500 meters she takes the top place with 5:05.10 minutes.

She had achieved this time at the end of July at the Bavarian Seniors' Championship "Run/Jump/Throw" in Munich's Dante Stadium.

Ressing leads the Germany-wide 5000-meter list with 19:05.36 minutes.

She ran this time in June, also in the Dante Stadium, at the “Athletics Evening”.

In the women's field, she finished fifth.

Hugo Mann runs to DM silver in Saarbrücken

Like Mareike Ressing, Hugo Mann was satisfied with his performance.

The 68-year-old from Penzberg won silver in the "M65" age group at the German championship in the 10-kilometer road run in Saarbrücken.

Mann crossed the finish line after 40:19 minutes.

At twelve degrees Celsius and relatively strong winds, Mann started his race cautiously.

"In contrast to the Bavarian half marathon championships two weeks ago, this time I started in a disciplined manner," said the experienced runner.

This slightly more defensive race tactic paid off as he was able to maintain his pace and keep his pursuers at bay.

Only winner Eckes had rushed too far, but Mann didn't know that.

"From the beginning to the end of the race I couldn't find out if there was another runner in my age group ahead of me."

But by no means did Mann mourn the missed title, but was happy about the silver medal.

The race and the result were "once more fun" for him.

He was also satisfied with his time, "even if it could have been enough for a 39er time based on training performance".

In a few days, the Penzberg long-distance specialist will have the next chance at a DM medal.

At the German Half Marathon Championships in Ulm on Sunday he is one of the favorites again.
